July 1st :: Time to actually WORK for the dole.

Taken from ITM:

For those that live in Collingwood / St Kilda / Richmond (or any suburb known as an hangout for the less fortunate) be warned to expect an increase in crime from JULY 1.

From this date, all persons on disability pensions will be required to Work-For-The-Dole..... that includes those with mental illness.... if they don't, they will loss their pension for 2 months....

So imagine.... there is a schizophrenic homeless dude expected to appear 9am everyday to dig a hole for his dole..... he rocks up late, and they dock his/her pension for 2 months.... for 2 months they've got nothing.... no cash, not even a cracker.....

WHAT DO YOU THINK THEY WILL DO ???? Sit back and take it ??? Me thinks they'll lash out at society....

So be warned.... if there are more desperate and crazy people on the streets from July 1, thats the reason.....
MiSSyM
thats a bit ed, imagine if a person has a bad case of MS or something like that, how are they expected to work.......

are you sure this is true?

i dont see ALL people on disability pensions having to work....especially the real bad cases.....

obviously this is only true in context.. i think this quote has been taken 'out of' context.

The government aren't supid enough to enforce this kind of system.

yes, the government has been making recent changes to welfare arrangements, which includes provisions to put those on disability pensions back to work. however, as soups said, im sure there are exceptions and they wont be forcing obvious mental cases into the workforce. thus you may continue to bludge missym ;)

DIDI
There are going to be a lot of borderline cases caught up in this. The compliance issues have become much more complicated and we're dealing with people who are already disadvantaged. So, ONE slipup and they automatically lose any benefit for two months, without appeal, even if they had the wherewithal to challenge!! That's two months without the money to buy food, pay rent etc., and believe me these people don't have savings to fall back on. !!

This government has made it perfectly clear that it believes charities should deal with the disavantaged in our communities and this looks like just another push in that direction. It Sucks!!:whip: :whip: :whip:
