Recent history between the two teams is very favourable for us indeed (1995 friendly win at Holland, 2002 qualifying win at Holland and a memorable 2-2 at home, euro 2004 semi-final), but as in the last few days everyone said Holland would be better than Argentina for us, there is a bit of overblown euphoria. People are talking like Holland would be almost an easy team to beat, which is complete bull.

I mean, let's take a look at the dutch in big tournaments since 1988:

euro 88: champions
wc 90: 1/8 finals
euro 92: finalists
wc 94: 1/4 finals
euro 96: 1/4 finals
wc 98: 1/2 finals
euro 00: 1/2 finals
wc 02: didnt qualify for the tournament
euro 04: 1/2 finals

That s all over our entire historial and proves Holland are a top team.

Back to the game in particular: we haven't been playing truly great, but i feel we're yet to peak in this cup and do have the potential to go further. So I say 50/50, both teams with equal chance to win.

Yeah, well, erm, I just want to point and laugh at batty boy Cristiano Ronaldo's crying face :p

We haven't won this by a long shot, though.

And what about the 'worldtalent' Messi, he didn't had one good action, didnt got pass Boularouz once, he's just so overrated :o

He just came back from about 3 months without a game due to injury. Besides, he's still ing 18 years old. If you don't see a worldtalent in him you're an idiot.

Doesn't take away from the great game Boulahrouz did.

It's a fair bet to say that Germany will beat Sweden ;)

By the way, I agree that Holland got robbed of a penalty. I think it was Ooyer (sp?) who got pulled down quite clearly there.

Germany will play Argentina if both of them win their next matches.

Nice game to watch this evening. I think both squads played very well and have shown why they are the strongest in their group. Sunday Portugal awaits us and I agree with basd. It will be a really tough game for us. Chances are 50/50.

I fell asleep watching that game, went asleep at 40 minutes, woke up at 80, I miss anything apart from nobody scoring?

imo argentina was the leading team in the match..

but it was seriously boring though

First half was pretty entertaining.Holland had the ball more but Argentina created more chances to score.Tevez played really well and Messi showed good signs but also one can tell he needs some more expiernce at times I thought he wanted to do too much on his own.But either way he will be a player I would to love have at any given time. The final result was fair for both squads in where in the 2nd half both teams looked like they were happy with a draw. Now its Mexico. :)

this match didn't bring us the best of both teams, but that was to be expected. I also had the impression Holland wasn't really motivated to go for the win (or they couldn't do better ;)) and for Argentina a draw was okay cause they would be first anyway.

Really looking forward to the 1/8 finals of both teams now. Should be a win for Argentina against Mexico. Not sure about Holland - Portugal though, is going to be a match which can go each way.

Well thinking like Mexico is already a win in the BAG, is the exact mentality that will cause Argentina to see an early exit. Mexico and Argentina know each other very well and hopefully it will be an excellent match. Today's match was rather boring to be honest. Argentina clearly had the upperhand in control but in the end its the score that counts.
0-0 I truly hope Netherlands goes far in the tournament as well now :)

Well, luckily the rest of the matches should be interesting - as the teams will be fighting to stay alive!
