| Hats off to Mexico.They played it like a final and dominated the game for the most part.Thats the reason why I dont like playing south american teams in a world cup,they know each to well and it comes out to a tough,nail biter game. Argentina was lost and couldn't get any rythem going our way.Thankfully Argentina was able to score quickly and tie the game cause if not Mexico would have played all their 11 players on their field.Argentina passed.Yes but now they have to get it together and se what adjustments has to be made because Germany doesn't around and will test our keeper constantly with shots from the outside,especially Ballack. |

Italy vs USA was the best refereeing i've seen this cup - controversial as hell, many very hard decisions to make and he was correct in all of them. i also remember some very good refs in the first couple of days.
best ref in the cup cannot be in a game where at least two very influential decisions were wrong. |

| I was just sooooo tired that it didn't matter how interesting the game was, I still fell asleep so I missed the last half of the game and the last goal. I woke up to seeing replays of Mexico losing :( |

| Great game, but Argentina will have a tougher time next game. Its hard to predic, but I like Germany in this one. |

I'm seriously wondering whether we actually saw the same game. Great game? Are you guys serious? I thought that except for the first 10 minutes, it was a rather crappy game. There wasn't much flow to the game, and Argentina in particular seemed disorganized, tired, and overall was definitely sub-par. Very poor showing on their part. Mexico dominated long stretches of the match early on, are were extremely unlucky to give up that own goal. Anyway, hats off to Mexico.
Game notes:
1-) Riquelme had a couple of nice passes but was overall disappointing.
2-) Cambiasso was terrible.
3-) Saviola was invisible during 95% of the match.
4-) Crespo was crap as usual and didn't do much the entire game.
5-) Their entire defense was shaky, especially during the first half when Borghetti dominated the box and Argentina looked lost on crosses into the area.
6-) Only positives were Messi and Tevez, in particular Messi, who played an excellent game. He clearly makes a difference for them and gives them that extra step.
7-) Goal of the tournament for me by Maxi Rodriguez, who was a complete non-factor the entire game until then.
Argentina better seriously pick up their game if they want to beat Germany next. Here's hoping they do. |

Well, I think it will be a whole a different match up against the germans... Mexico played their game which was more physical and always trying to control the ball. Argentina did their part to win this game, that was about it. Each game is a final and today Argentina won its first final, it was close indeed but I think Argentina was better than Mexico.
Let's not forget Mexico is a good team aswell, Germany had to suffer last year to beat them too, so it's not like Mexico are totally ... I mean Argentina had a tough test today and they went through. |

Mexico definitely impressed me, but I've watched Argentina play about 20 times in the past 4 years, and they've played much much better than this against much better sides than Mexico. It was clear right from the get-go that Argentina wasn't able to impose their usual style of play on the Mexicans, that being the crisp team passing and ball control that they usually have down pat. For long stretches of the match, their passing was off the mark and the Mexicans were dominating the midfield. I was expecting more from them, that's all. |

Don't forget that most of what happened today, was due to Mexico's good playing... Even though you might be impressed about what went on, I am not, Mexico is a far better team but injuries and other problems brought them to this bracket, let alone the luck of the draw. It's a shame but I'm totally convinced Argentina did exactly what they had to do to beat this Mexico team... |
