| What I mean was assuming that you aren't in poverty status (you can afford all the necessities for existence) what city would have the greatest disparity between those who are simply ekeing out a living-but still living nonetheless-and those who have access to the exclusive amenities (shopping, dining, that kind of ). |

| It is hard to qualify such a location in a country with such a large middle class. I don't want to say that aristocracy does not exist in the United States, but rarely will you see someone dressed like Mr. Peanut walking down the street spitting on the homeless. If you want a good example of economic disparity though, look at Naples, Florida - on one "side" are the rich (pretty much white...irrelevant?) migrants who keep their pools warm, their house cold and their estate finely pruned at all times of the year here in Florida....even though they are scarceley even here, only when their Winter homes get too cold in upstate New York, where even larger estates house them. On the other "side" are...um...native Floridians. That's a pretty impoverished thing, trust me. But who needs money when you've got a plastic pair of aviators and a Firebird Convertible with the original paint job and Yosemite Sam mudflaps? The city of Naples makes significant strides to stunt the growth of its city by enforcing heavy bureaucracy to outside developmental contractors from anywhere else (mostly Miami) in an effort to, quite honestly, keep the "riff-raff" out of Naples. No comment on how successful this is. As such, the high taxation and general cost of living are quite outrageous considering several economic factors which result in the high demand for skilled labour - the result of which is a large trades defecit in the workforce as the cost of living is so high due to the enforced growth policies. So what we see are skilled workers moving out of Naples because they cannot afford to live here while the, um, "unskilled" (:s) labour stays put because of the large opportunity gap. So we see the poor getting poorer and the rich getting...norther? Yeah, yeah, only in Florida. you guys. :stongue: |

just doin what i gotta do to work my way up and not forget where i come from. my dad immigrated to this from barbados back in the day to this country, "the land of opportunity" :toothless
yes there is a modern form of aristocracy in this country. and considering the amount of wealth that exists these days it is a very extreme one. and it is obvious to us all, i doubt i need to elaborate. the rich get richer and do not concern themselves with the poor. they have their completley different lives and "issues" while the rest of paycheck to paycheck and do everything we have to do to get above that. and note that i am talking about the very wealthy (who there are alot of) not just the guy down the street with the biggest house. |

Was actually talking to all the people here on TA who say "only in Florida" after every Mom kills three children and wears their skin to a Waffle House article that comes along. :nervous:
