Car Games

Yesterday Cale and I were driving back from Toronto to Windsor sans music. His iTrip broke awhile ago, so no iPod, he has no CD player...just a tape deck - which doesn't work with car kits or plain 'ol tapes for that matter.
So we decided to play a few car games. We didn't want to play the usual games i.e. go through the alphabet and name a fruit that starts with that letter, or naming a city and then the next person has to name a city that starts with the last letter of the one before or even license plate games.
We came up with a couple. One being that we had to tell 3 statements about ourselves. Two had to be true and one had to be false and the other person had to pick the false statement.
Another game we came up with was that we had to pick a movie and name the genre and lead actor, then the second person had to guess what movie it was. The guesser was able to ask questions about the movie. At first we played with only yes/no questions, but it was too hard - especially since Cale is movie clueless - so we scraped the yes/no idea. I kicked Cale's ass BTW!
It made the drive go by a lot quicker.
We're driving to Niagra Falls in a week and a half and may need some more car games. Got any suggestions? |

Got rid of that iPod so that's a no-go. iTrips are great but fragile.

Bring a portable CD player or ghetto-blaster – put some batteries in it and your set.
Games:
-I Spy
-Sing along game (LOL... i am sure some vocal trance could work)
-Categories

One of my faves I used to play with my brother on our family road trips was the gas station game.
I counted the stations on one side, and he counted the ones on the other side, and the one who counted the most on their side the next time the car stops somewhere, he wins. Stations don't count if you just passed them.
A fun part of that game is when one of the player's mind wanders, it springs back into attention when an apponent starts counting again, and you kick yourself for missing a few. Game can be altered depending on where you're travelling, like using farm silos, IHOPs or other common business that usually line a highway. |

We tried to sing "These are a few of my favorite things" on the way up to Toronto and then we sung a round of something on the way back...haha it was a good 5 minutes of our time.
Categories? What's that?
And silent trip? hahaha "Who can stay quiet the longest" hahaha |

I hear ya...there are much better options, if you have an input on your head unit. |
