this thread gave me the inspiration to go out and find some new music... but i'm broke, so i ended up grabbin' a few CDs off emusic.com. they give you a 14-day trial with 25 free downloads, so i took advantage of it then cancelled my acct!

anyway, i ended up getting...

Spoon - Girls Can Tell
The Raconteurs - Broken Boy Soldiers

(haven't listened to them entirely yet but so far they sound good)

+

Steve Porter - Homegrown (continuous mix)
Hernan Cattaneo - Renaissance presents The Master Series (both discs)
Thievery Corporation - AOL Music DJ Sessions

^^ those mixes all counted as 1 download each, haha!

as for me, lately i've been listening to...

calexico & iron and whine - in the reins
ing great album. not usually a iron and whine fan, but these two made one great album. americana at its best :p

we are scientists idk, their only album
kinda in the same vein as the killers and bloc party. just better. than the killers at least
bloc party ftw

the knife - silent shout
i have no idea what the is wrong with these guys, but i like them. they wrote the song heartbeats which was covered by...

jose gonzalez
been listening to his album veneer tons lately. mostly just solo acoustic stuff. his cover of heartbeats was in a diet coke(?) commercial where tons of bouncy balls are bouncing down a street in san francisco in slow motion. awesome cover

there's tons more but the posts long enough already
word
Spirit5

Katie Melua
John Mayer
Norah Jones

Just a few artists or duos i'm into currently, or have been into for a number of years. There's more, but that's all I can think of right now...i like a mixture of electronica, ambient or shoegazer, singer-songwriter pop, downbeat/trip hop and ethereal, new age music...but I like a lot of classic rock too like Pink Floyd, Styx, REO Speedwagon, Jimi Hendrix, The Who, The Doors, The Beatles, The Stones etc...

Guster's "Eden" and "Rainy Day" are great.

Steve Porter. hmmm. i have just about all of his productions/remixes, and i absolutely love his sound... but after seeing him @ Porterhouse WMC this year, i think he's a terrible DJ now.

Juliana Theory in' rules! "You Always Say Goodnight"... omg emo!

i'll check out the other names you mentioned. :)
