Soothing Trance

Hey everyone,
I'm quite new here, but I will first say that I absolutely love trance music. It is unlike anything else. This might be cliche, not sure really, but I absolutely love Orbital - Halcyon And On And On. It is my favorite song ever made. I especially like the first few minutes, with the beautiful voice and most amazing, soothing music. I of course love the rest of the song, but again, that first half just hits me like a wave, like something so pure and amazing, I cannot even begin to describe it. Every time I hear that song, I am taken away to another place. I cannot put it in words. I am just happy; content.
I recently picked up the Tri-State album by Above and Beyond, and was most pleasantly surprised to find another track similar to this. It is called "Good For Me." It opens nice and slow, with birds chirping in the background, and again, it does the same thing for me. I love these songs.
So I am here to ask you, the experts, where I can find songs just like this. I am looking for soothing, ethereal songs that whisk you away. When I listen to those songs, I imagine I'm on a sandy white beach, with perfectly clear water, just at peace. I want more songs like that!
I am sure there are many, and if I was vague about anything, don't hesitate to ask. I would be extremely grateful if anyone can point me in the right direction. Thank you all in advance! |

| You want ambient music, not trance. |

Good For Me sounds very much like something by Brian Eno, who is one of the pioneers of this ambient sound that you're looking for. Try his An Ending (Ascent) , which is a pretty famous and accessible piece of ambient, sounding rather similar to the production on Good For Me.
I wish they did an instrumental version of Good For Me. I like the vocal sometimes, but I just find it rather annoying at others, and it would be better to have a version without it. |

Yea Ambient is what you want.
Can't be ed naming a lot but this is what i recommend:
Any of the "Solar Stone After Hours Mix"
Mirco de Govia - Chronoscale album
Leama & Moor - Common Ground album
Conjure One album
Rank 1 - "Such is life" (Sunday Afternoon Rework)
Blank & Jones - "Desire" (Ambient Mix)
Miro - "By your side" (Miro's rolled Mix)
Jose Amnesia - "The Eternal" (Sunrise Mix)
pretty much the basics on what you are looking for

A few tracks off the top of my head:
The Ambush - Casablanca
Banco de Gaia - Qurna
Alter Ego - Undersea Girl
Black Box - Dreamland (no, really!)
Norman Feller - Tiefenrausch
The Orb - Plateau
Vangelis - Heaven & Hell Pt. 1
And, yeah, a lot of Eno. The pad synths used in that A&B song are very similar to the kinds Eno's used throughout the years. |

| A track you might like is Conil - Malibu Beach found in the In Search of Sunrise 5. |

I think this thread starter is more into chillout trance than ambient.
But if it's ambient, then Future Sound Of London - Lifeforms double CD, one of my favourite albums of alltime :) |

| Chicane's first album "Far From The Maddening Crowds" should be up your alley. Check out some downtempo/ambient stuff, stuff that is a mixture of downtempo and ambient music, like Ulrich Schnauss. You'd like him...his stuff definitely has a trance-like quality to it. |
