its 88.7 i think. or 89.1 i cant remember!

but what you think. you think EDM will potentially grow to even have its own station or do you think itllb e limited to satellite like it is now.

like in miami you have 93.1 but im not sure if thats a dedicted EDM station.

Who listens to radio anymore? Seriously?

NYC has really bad radio stations and I'd guess, besides here and there while in a car, I haven't listened to radio in over 3 years. Even rock radio sucks anymore.

I'd say yes. Within the next couple of years. For something that's underground to become commercial takes what? About 10 years or so? Or maybe I should ask "how long it takes for the US to catch on to aspects of culture that are already widely accepted in Europe and other parts of the world be it music, clothing etc?" Still, about 10 years or so yes? I definately think it's on its way. But, if lots more people start listening to EDM will that make it less special for us? more special? no change?

Its not so much about more ppl being into it as it is the RIGHT TYPE of ppl. Look at Love Parade, thats 2 Million strong and the crowd is cool as . You go to Ultra Fest with 40,000 ppl and see ppl u dont wanna be around. Its all about the quality of clubbers, not quantity. Just my .02.

the state of radio in nyc is truly appalling - with the demise of k-rock there is absolutely no decent mainstream station left. the college stations and wbai still have decent niche programming, but those are on at odd times and few and far in between.

i wouldn't want a dance station in this city 'cause there's about a 99.9% chance that it would suck balls.

btw, radio stations in providence and boston kick nyc's ass in almost every genre.

r.i.p. bobbito & stretch 89.9 :) :(

i agree. bobbito and stretch were the back in the day. bobbito spins EDM now. i saw him at club 112 in philly last summer. VERY cool guy.

nyc does have a dsnce station. KTU! guidocentral. i noticed it takes about 6 months for a hot song to come out. avb motorcycle was out and was whored for a bit.

I don't think we'll ever get a mainstream EDM station. Most people who are big EDM fans would rather listen to their own music from their computers, MP3 players, etc. People who take mass transit don't have the opportunity to tune in like commuters in their cars. There just wouldn't be enough demand and as Konjin said, it'd probably suck a la KTU.

What I'd be more interested in is a cable provider that offers something like A3tv http://www.a3tv.tv/, which they broadcast in South Florida 11pm-6am. MTV and VH1 don't show any EDM videos as far as I know.

EDIT: Actually, what would be cool is if they broadcast EDM on the subway and buses ::wishful thinking:: In Switzerland they were playing EDM at 9am on the public trams. It was pretty good! Not too cheesy or fluffy. That'd make the work commute at lot more pleasant :p

Time for xm or sirius
and than hook your ipod up to the car. once you do this, much like me you will forget what over the air radio is, much like black/white tvs, 8 track, and walkmans
Personally i have xm- victor dinair, state of trance, essential mix, junior's house
sirius has area 33 and pete tong on their carry of bbc-

that explains why i heard good techy trance on a friday (at least i think it was, might have been thur) a month back drivin into the city..it was def 88.7 cause i was usin an FM transmitter for my ipod and it uses empty freqs rangin from 88.1 - 89.5...sucks that the sound wasnt clearer since i was in jersey

spdandpwr
what about party 105.3...isn't that edm? its based in long island so i don't know how many other people get that station.
