| It was a pop culture phenomenon at the time but it wasn't an effective movie for me. |

I thought it was a good film. Although it is fictional, the fact that they create this strong illusion of reality is quite impressive.
It is scary, and I am not a fan of scary movies, so that was a downside. I also wasn't pleased that there was no decent explanation of what happened to their bodies. |

If you paid enough attention during the film you would know.
SPOILER FROM SOME SITE I FORGOT:
| quote: | | It was probably to increase the tempo and build suspense, but when you see Josh (?) standing (?) in the corner, facing the wall, and then suddenly Heather bites it, it takes a pretty attentitive movie watcher to remember the tale told at the BEGINNING of the movie. For those who don't remember (or don't want to watch it again), that tale was about a killer who liked to stick one victim in the corner, while he slaughtered another. If you watched the movie and missed this little tidbit, the ending would be partially incomprehensible (much like this review). But rest assured, one of your friends may have been more attentive and can explain the ending to you. But that's like trying to explain a joke to someone after you tell them the punchline ...it doesn't work. |

He? I dont remember the witch being a he. It was the witch that supposedly killed them, not some copycat. |

| I remember seeing this in the cinema here a few years ago. Back then I really thought it was a very nice movie. The suspension they created, like the chopping sounds at night and ofcourse the screaming Josh at night. I still think it's a great movie. |

me too.
the ending was pretty cool, i thought. the rest of the movie...after seeing it a few times, kinda drags on, and that whole "YOU LOST THE ING MAP? WHAT THE DID YOU DO THAT FOR!?" scene where heather is just screaming w/ the f-bomb every other word....that gets a bit annoying.
but it's a good story - and i remember seeing a "documentary" about it on the discovery channel before the movie was released - as something to add to the hype about the "legend of the blair witch".
this was really the most "raw" movie i've seen in a long time. having the characters being actually involved, and NO special effects was really a brilliant idea - and the way it was actually shot was some real cinematography, and it worked and made them millions.
2nd movie sucked balls. turns out the witch made everyone have an orgy and then she killed them? really was like a BAD porno - and i mean BAD. |
