Saw this in my inbox...

I like Paul and everything, but...

Monday night?

Stingaree?

I think I'll have to pass on this one, which kinda sucks b/c last time he was at 4th and B I thought he threw down a pretty good set.

Anyone going to this?

it is supposed to be a quasi-sampler set for the 22nd at Giant Village (in addition to a promotional set for his new album Lively Mind).

cant say much for oakeys mixing, but love the crowd he draws. he brings out the rock and porn stars. stingaree would probably would be cool place to catch okay in SD. it is $20 show. that is a steal for oakey

Sorry but Oakey is horrible.

Giving reference to the past only goes so far. Oakey belongs in a museum or hall of fame somewhere, not on stage in front of me.

If I saw Oakey in a bar I would buy him a round. He deserves it.

But I will never again pay for a ticket to see him “spin.”

The above is the whole reason I went to Tiesto at 4th/B. To suggest that the crowd at an event isn't part of the equation is to miss the bigger picture. Yes, the music is the most important thing. But to hear an amazing set in an empty club is a buzz kill, because it's nice to have the sense of sharing the experience with other people who are also enjoying themselves. If those other people are also (ahem) a bit larger than life and costumed out, that's fine with me too; who doesn't like the circus and the sideshows??

I'm not such a purist that I can't see the merits of both sides. A great set, with a "great" (in quotes since the definition of great can be a bit subjective) crowd cannot be beat.

On that note, I'm going to try to get a hall pass to see Victor tonite at Bacchus, which has a much better shot of having a lot of the former and maybe some of the latter than Oakie.

I was just being facetious. And probably a bit harsh too.

True a good crowd can make an event but I wouldn’t call hanging with porn and rock star want-a-be’s a good crowd. Neither do I want to stand there with nothing but dudes either. A good crowd to me is a mix of people that are there to have fun and both enjoy and know something about the music. Or at least want to know.

Anyone know where I can get pre-sale tickets for this event. Its not on groovetickets.

I dont care if its a small venue, I've seen Oakey here in SD 2 times and both nights he's pulled in a good crowd and played a great set.

Its a $20 show!! CHEAP!! Come help suppost the developing scene here in SD! The more soldout events we have here in SD the more BIG NAMES will book shows here. Besides what else can you do on a Monday night thats this much fun?
