CDJ800 reading problem
View this Thread in Original format

At a party last night, a CDJ800MK1 stopped reading CDs all of the sudden. Basically, even if we unplugged it, let it rest, any disc we tried to play would simply stay on "loading".
Has this happened to anyone? Is it a registered product failure?

Everytime i accidentally put in a data-cd in my cmx-3000.. But that's probably not it..

I had an MK2 that stopped reading CDs after I had it for a week. I had to go return it.

I've had the same problems with mine, although at first it was to do with the cheap CDRs I was buying. Tesco CDRs may be cheap, but they're cheap for a reason!! If your CDs aren't scratched, are a decent brand (TDK, JVC etc) then the only other thing I can recommend is a lens cleaner. I bought one for about £7 ($15) and it is a CD with tiny brushes on the underside. I put it in, 10 seconds later I ejected and the CDJs worker fine. I carry this round with me now and use it in all the players I use before putting my cds in there. It says on the lens cleaner case that it should be used for every 10 hours of playback, which clearly doesnt happen in any clubs I know of, or many bedrooms!

Hmmm I seem to remember reading somewhere that you're specifically NOT supposed to use those cleaners with the cdjs

i have a similar problem with one of my cdjs....sometimes if I turn it off and turn it back on it will read the cd...but ten times out of ten (so far) if you eject the CD, breathe on it, give it a wax-on-wax-off on your shirt, then re-insert it, it works

:)
