Rant: People who listen to "Everything"

| Dunno why I've decided to vent now, but I am so damn sick of people who claim to listen to "everything". There is no way ANYONE could listen to everything in the first place, and secondly it usually takes me no more than a few minutes to find a song these people absolutlely despise. Hell, the majority of people who claim that don't know any real techno besides cheese crap like dj sammy or scooter and pretty much don't know much if any foreign music in general. I know it's judgemental, but if I see somebody's profile online and they make that claim my disposition towards them takes a steep drop, because as far as I'm concerned it's just a sign of ignorance to say that. Show me a person that thinks they listen to everything and I'll give em something they've never even heard of before. |

| I always say "everything" when somebody asks me what I like, simply because it's better than spending half an hour trying to explain to them what trance is only to have them leaving still thinking it's all called techno and it all sounds the same. |

Man, why do I even bother looking for serious responses on this forum when everybody is a bunch of spaming post-whores these days -_-. Err, I suppose it's always been that way on second thought, which is why I lurk in the first place :toothless

When asked what kind of music I listen to I usually reply that I listen to everything. Now I usually give people the benefit of the doubt so I don't expect them to be annoying gits and take it literally and say "oh it's actually physically impossible to listen to everything". Seriously I have never met anyone who seriously claims to listen to EVERY genre and have heard EVERY PIECE OF MUSIC EVER WRITTEN!1
All it means is that I like MUSIC. I'm not a genre-whore and I will actually listen to any piece of music to decide whether I like it, rather than going "oh this is X genre, therefore it's ". In summary what I mean when I say I listen to everything is that I am willing to listen to anything genre-wise, rather than replying I listen to European dark progressive house from the late 90's, or deathmetal or fusion jazz or whatever.
What s me most is people who decide they want to know everything about one narrow genre of music and assume that people who do not know as much about a genre as they do about their chosen genre can't really appreciate the music. |

| its been my experience that women are alot more likely to say that they listen to "just about everything" and guys are more likely to say they listen to one particular kind of music |
