dude you ahve hit the jackpot!!! have you ever been over to a greek / italian's house for dinner? they live for food... youll never go hungry again (unless she is part hungarian)
most greek / italian families i know have two kitchens in their house. my aunts parents sabina and pasquale have an 18 foot table in the basement and its covered in food 24-7.... |
Well theres a big diff between Italians & Greeks. The Greeks got Turkish blood in em & eat like cow dick & beaver utters or some like that. |

Bah! She's far from being "Greek" then. Her family's been in contact with the North American way of life for quite a long time, there's no reason for you to worry. |
Still Greek though. Greeks are very stubborn & slow when it comes to more Americanize themselves. |

Even in that case, unless they...
a) actually speak Greek as their mother language and have a distinct accent;
b) belong to a community recognised by European Greeks as being a Greek community, and could blend in without looking or sounding like a foreigner in Greece;
c) isolate themselves from others to a point that cultural shocks are frequent;
... calling them "Greeks" might not be the best description you can give. |

Thats exactly what it is. Alot dont speak English well even if they have been living in the country for 40 years. They mostly choose to only speak Greek at home.
Alot also stick to Greek only communitys too. In my neighborhood we have a Greek street. Well thats what we call it:p Its 90% Greek, all in full brick houses nice houses too. My neighborhood is failry new & modern too. The first house broke ground in 1980. So its not like Greek Town in Chicago
And yes they do tend to isolate themselves from the rest of America too. Like lets say Greek parents move here 30 yrs ago & raise a family, but when thier child gets older & falls in love with someone from a different nationality, they freak out & bring up a problem that Greeks had witht their kind 150 yrs ago in Europe. |
