Alot also stick to Greek only communitys too. In my neighborhood we have a Greek street. Well thats what we call it:p Its 90% Greek, all in full brick houses nice houses too. My neighborhood is failry new & modern too. The first house broke ground in 1980. So its not like Greek Town in Chicago
And yes they do tend to isolate themselves from the rest of America too. Like lets say Greek parents move here 30 yrs ago & raise a family, but when thier child gets older & falls in love with someone from a different nationality, they freak out & bring up a problem that Greeks had witht their kind 150 yrs ago in Europe. |

That's quite interesting though: don't they have problems with the rest of the society? Isn't it more difficult for them to find jobs and stuff? Are there Greek schools too? And do you know what the stance of European Greeks is toward them? |

there are greek schools, run by the churches, but their enrollments have been shrinking rapidly during the last ten-fifteen years as second and third generation greek-americans become more americanized and don't care to learn the language or become involved in the community.
the only people truly atomized are old school villagers, who like most immigrants of their ilk, choose only a token level of assimilation. this is true of virtually every immigrant group.
greeks in greece look at greek americans like the crass goons most of them are; to wit, the "big fat wedding" movie didn't go over well in greece as most greeks were confused and appalled by what was on-screen.
greek-american chicks are usually pretty hot and willing, but suffer from massive princess syndromes; the guys are usually dicks too. |

| Sounds like my family there LOL. I myself am Jewish (you know how Jewish mothers can be), so I'd be used to that matriarchal stuff. As for the girl, I met her at college and, what makes things better, is that she's in the same dorm as me this coming year. |
