edit // hmm and i see you elaborated on that in your first post, but yeah... the last paragraph threw me off too.

EXACTLY .. its this idea that progressive is the holy of holy by people to spin, produce and love it that is the problem. This belief that other forms of edm are not capable of moving you the way progressive does.

That is true, and I've often made that argument. I guess I'm just biased in thinking that progressive DJs tend to do it more often as part of their de rigeur (hope I'm spelling that right)

The other thing that tends to make that set progression part of the "progressive" genre, though, is the use of instrumentation "clusters." Progressive might move from more organic, drummy and tribal sounds up through to the trancier sounds, or might start more minimal deep up through complex deep.

It's a tough concept to explain. But when you've seen enough of it, you just know it when you see it! Everyone does it a bit differently, and that's why in my mind it's art. ;)

Honey, I'm 36 years old and have been doing this for a while now. There are very few DJs even within the progressive genre that move me, and very few outside of it also. Quality is quality wherever it sits, but I will say that after years and years and years of going to every kind of event and hearing every kind of mix you can imagine, progressive has done it for me more times than vibes of any other kind of music.

If you have sets that you can send to me to prove me otherwise, then do it. I'm open and ready for the next-level experience.

(Otherwise STFU :stongue: )
