didnt you realise yet max, that tunes only released within the last month, or not even released yet can sound good... ;)
top job on finally getting an 'essential mix' cap!!
well done |

hahah... yeah people get so caught up in whats unreleased and what's not.
i could care less...good music is good music |

| Nowhere did I say they were bad tracks, nor does it matter whether or not they are unreleased or not ... they're just a bit 'played out.' I guess being a fan of yours I just had too high of expectations for an "Essential Mix." |

so the expectations were not just for good music but for tracks that have been played less by others?... i'm not putting same man on there or anything (because im sick of it not because its overplayed) but i do believe there are plenty of people that don't know dnox yet.
there's a bunch of stuff on there that would fit your criteria of unplayed tracks but again i don't play that game...i play what i love for as long as it stays exciting to me, hell i've been playing lust for over a year and i still love it.
i will never program a set or a radio show based on what others are playing or whats overplayed, i think i deserve some credit for that. |

Nothing at all groundbreaking. What is he doing still playing those D-Nox & Beckers tracks? |

| btw - can someone re-upload? the earlier link has already exceeded its bandwidth. |

I guess my feelings on the D-Nox & Beckers stuff are analogous to your feelings on Same Man. I'm tired of hearing them, mostly because I played them out so much that they just aren't 'fresh' to me anymore (same goes for Lemon Sherbet - not a 'bad' track, just one that I'm used to playing / hearing for a long time)
Regardless I'll still download this and listen through it as there's some stuff I'd like to check out, as well as some other fine tracks. (i.e Disco Stew, La Luna, etc...) And yes, you deserve credit for playing out what you're feeling and not structuring your sets around what other people are caning - but it's funny that in a day and age where the DJ community has become overflooded with try-hards and people playing whatever is on the latest ASOT or Global DJ Broadcast that putting stuff out there without allowing for the influence of other's playlists or Top-10s or 'played-outs' is the exception rather than the norm.
Props though for not taking offense to what people post on this site but rather engaging in conversation and asking questions ... as some 'reputable' DJs have not acted with such maturity in the past. And I'll be out @ your show @ Spybar this weekend, since your performance at Soundbar early this year was nothing short of exceptional. |

you havent listened yet? silly...the dnox stuff is all in key and just fit so well...
that being said hats off to you for not jumping down my throat...its rare i post for that reason, ign message board bull can always find something to bitch about in what people say...and you, instead of doing that, engaged in thoughtful discussion and explained your point.
i jsut gave jetlagslave to sander, he had never heard of dnox...so im glad you recognize that although same man is a hit being played by EVERYONE and their mother, dnox is still every underground and unknown. so i guess you realise that its nice to see those guys being pushed into a larger forum through the EM that just you and i. you should actually be stoked that im playing something you've played a lot as it would make us have the same taste...somethign like
"i love dnox stuff and played it to death, good to see max push those guys on a forum like radio one" :):)
good music is good music and spybar is going to rock, i will likely play quite a bit from this EM that night to be prepared to bitch on monday...hahah...oh and some new dnox that he sent me recently.

The reason that I've always been a big fan of yours is that our tastes in music seem to be quite similar. I remember listening to a set of yours, I believe from earlier this year, where out of nowhere you dropped Matthew Dekay - If I Could Fly. like that ... and I can't at all condemn you for playing the D-Nox stuff, as I've been a fan of it for quite a while ... so good point ;)
I can't believe Sander hadn't heard of their stuff yet. Seems like they'd be right up his alley.
Excited to hear that new D-Nox stuff you've got. And as long as you play Space Disco you can play Jet Lag Slave and You're A Star and you can rest assured that I won't be doing any bitching :D |
