We got the MLS version of Millwall coming soon! :stongue:

Brilliant stuff and good on them! I hope they should bin francises, keep teams local and build a sense of identity towards your clubs.

You know, I read a pretty interesting artical in The Economist about how America has a fair system in it's sporting events despite its free trade and competitive nature in business. Yet Europe is the opposite, and although few teams can share in on the glory, they still have a free system in allowing the best players to be monopolized to certain teams based on money the team has.

I can remember when Chelsea were and Stamford Bridge was like a glorified bikeshed, seriously in the early 90's I used to look at the fixture list and go 4-0 easy result, look at them now! A lot it is about investment unfortunatly but you still get moments of magic etc small clubs screwing over the big clubs.

Some teams have brilliant invividual players but they don't gel as unit when you don't have that your screwed.

The teams in the MLS need to start scouting around the local teams and set up academies invest in local talent. In return you could see vast improvement to the league in future seasons and to the national team.

Money has been both positive and negative in European football. Positives more talent better facilities, the negatives corperate culture and fans who sit there in silence.

Vern said I should take a look at this thread...anyhow in America I don't quite feel MLS will ever capture the general population as it is now. The dropoff in interest in the US is when kids are coordinated enough to swing a bat or throw a football. Until American society completely changes and / or MLS has a quality product they will fail to completely infiltrate the top sporting tier in the US. The League's attempts to drive interest although admirable will only get them so far...their push for the Hispanics will help but in no way will it help them "save" their League of sorts. Much has to be done on a grassroots level to build awareness and there need to be more inportant games on TV. Yeah everyone watches the World Cup but from that to MLS is just a joke...perhaps the MLS can set itself up as a minor league of sorts for European leagues. Fans will be able to watch up incoming talent and see a higher level of soccer rather than a League tutting itself as being a "major league" which we all know is not true.

that's all i got...plus all i really know is hockey so that's my $0.02 at ~2am.

There are load of kids playing the game on the pitch... It's just keeping that interest going after college.

it definitely loses a lot of steam into middle school and high school without a doubt. that's when kids start picking "their" sport.

Strong indication that Laurent Robert is going to sign for Toronto FC, and not for DP either.

Also former Arsenal and Tottenham winger Rohan Ricketts on trial.

Exciting news!
