Finally made it to Sydney! It's great to be here!

Hey AUTAs!!
How ya goin? Just wanted to introduce myself. I'm from Toronto, but I'm in Sydney for the next 6 months on exchange studying at Sydney Uni. I'm living in Newtown, which is real nice and I love it so far. I've been here about a week, just getting settled in and it'd be nice to finally get out and check out the nightlife and maybe meet some of you.
I went down to the Harbour yesterday and stumbled upon Home, which I hope to visit soon. At the very least, for God's Kitchen in October. Never seen such a nice club in such an awesome location like that before! And I've heard the Cross has some good places too. I will be heading out to Melbourne sometime in the next 6 months to meet up with friends, and then travel up the East Coast in December, but for now, Sydney is my home.
So that's about it. If anyone has any tips or good places to check out, let me know. I'm keen on really getting into the Aussie lifestyle (and honeslty, don't care to stick around International Students all the time.) You guys seem like a good bunch. :)

hey there and welcome.
Newtown is certainly a great location. Lots of interesting (some may consider "weird") things and people to see. Some top bars and restaurants around there (Thai Pothong FTW!).
Be sure to head down to Kuleto's cocktail bar, 157 King St, between 6.00-7.30pm daily for happy hour. 2 for 1 cocktails, and a whole variety of drinks are great!
so what are you studying at USyd?
I know another TOTA that moved over here over a year ago by the name of Tamara. Can't remember her TA handle though. Cool chick.
Haven't met anyone from Toronto that I haven't gotten along with yet, so it'd be cool to meet you sometime.
Home is a fantastic venue. Not much of a fan of the music policy there myself but definitely a world class venue. GK should be good.
Anyways, enjoy your stay in one of the best cities (and countries) on the planet. Not that I'm biased or anything :cool: |

Hey there!
Newtown has LOADS of great Thai restuarants, and lots of great pubs. Make sure you check them all out ;)
If you are up for a fun time on a Sunday afternoon, be sure to check out Sounds on Sunday at the Greenwood Hotel, North Sydney. It's a fun afternoon with house and breaks at a great outdoor/indoor venue. |

SOS is definitely worth checking out on a nice warm sunny afternoon.
Alternatively if you're after some tribal, progressive, melodic, tech, uplifting, psy check out The Temple @ V-bar. Launching Sunday July 30th, and running every 2nd & 4th Sunday afternoon from 2 - 10PM.

| Since you live in Newtown i highly recommend the Marlborough for happy hour cocktails. $6.90 between 6-8 and 2 hrs of drinking fast can set you up for a big night.;) Apparently they have tunes on a Thurs night (Grunts sig) so you can get smashed and hear some type of music. |

Just deep house/lounge either upstairs in the main or downstairs in the cocktail lounge bit :p It's a POS |
