I also wanted to add that I found this. It's the constitutional stance on protection of citizens abroad. Not that I agree with everything said.
http://law.onecle.com/constitution/...hts-abroad.html
It appears to be a double edged sword; it allows the President to come to the aid of citizens abroad when deemed necessary, but it also allows him to go into countries militarily without the consent of congress. |

Well you gotta remember, Israels definition of a terrorist is someone who fights against an army that invades thier country. |

While I agree in principal, that in times of war, soldiers should be the ones on the front line, however, these soldiers where not at war, were within their own borders and kidnapped for the soul purpose of leverage in a very lopsided hostage exchange.
In any other countries eyes, that's an act of war... |

look at what Israel has been doing for years ffs. They go inside the Palestinian territory and kidnap a whole bunch of people and throw them in jails for being terrorists, then when someone does the same to them they go and bomb anything that walks. |

Did America cause the war? |
I'll answer this one because it's the easiest.:p
Short Version: No.
Long Version: No. Israel is at war with Lebanon because a terrorist group known as Hezbollah has a few of their soldiers captive. The Prime Minister of Isreal himself stated himself that he will cease fire (end the war) upon the return of those soldiers. |

If US based "crazy right-wing militias" carried out similar actions in Canada we wouldn't need to hold the US government to account as they would do it themselves. Interestingly enough something similar did happen in 1866 - 1890.... a militant group of Irish Americans (called the Fenians) attacked several locations in Upper & Lower Canada (now Ontario and Quebec respectively) and even killed a Irish Canadian Politician. The Colonial government of British North America(Canada was still a British colony in 1866) and later Canada (post 1867) did not take any action against the US government... rather then attack a soveign nation they chose to defend against the attacks as they happened. The US government was fairly quick to take action to surpress the Fenians as best they could (which was a tall order considering their civil war was going on). Eventually we got it all sorted out and no US civilians had to die (or train stations bombed, residential areas burned, ports blockaded, etc).
Perhaps Israel's response toward Lebanon would not be so extensive if the Lebanese government were to take proactive measures to control/surpress Hezbolla rather then simply throwing up their hands and saying "we can't control them". That said, I do believe that Israel has taken hold of this as an opportunity to weaken Lebanon as a whole and send a message to it's neighbours (I may have done the same if I were in control of the Israeli military). |
