Bollocks. So the early stuff was just labelled after what it made you feel like, and all of a sudden in the mid 90s someone named a genre trance for no reason and that's what trance really is? Check your head. It may have been labelled trance because it aimed to entrance, but nonetheless that became the name of the genre. People didn't call any old entrancing music "trance"- they'd call it by its genre. However there was a genre labelled trance. Which what you call trance evolved from. |

| i didnt say it wasnt trance, if you would read. i said my opinions of what trance is from 95 onwards. the reason being stuff previous was very psychedelic and acid. my perception of trance is the lush pads and gentle plucks, that form of trance that developed imo was when it peaked. |

BANG you hit it! That was why it was labelled trance. It was hypnotic, psychedelic and entrancing. This was WHY it got the name TRANCE. So how the can't the early stuff not be labelled trance acording to you is beyond me. |

| i dont no if you people are backward or what but do you think trance appeared out of nowhere? it stemmed from old skool which run from late 80s to early 90s, then evolving again it became trance. |

Your opinion is that trance was not trance. That's incorrect. Just because you've slapped "opinion" on the front doesn't mean that we won't poke holes in your crazy view.

LOL!! did you even watch that german trance documentary from Google? It's from 1993 and shows a very lively trance scene from Berlin. What the are you talking about? And who the cares what you like. We are talking about when the music was labelled trance. Not what you think is trance. |

There's so much wrong with this I don't know where to begin. So you associate "old skool" with "acid". Acid what? Acid house? Or just anything with a TB 303 in? And you also don't think that any of the acid genres had electronic elements in? What the ?
And then the label "trance" is much older than 1993. It was originally applied to repetitive, hypnotic, four on the floor music by The KLF in their Pure Trance series, beginning in 1988. Then when the Germans started making trance in full force in 1990 they adopted the tag for what was essentially the same as what The KLF had done but also drew on German techno. There are plenty of examples of "trance" applied as a genre prior to 1993.
Of course, that could just be an opinion. Or it could be fact. |
