Hi Seval!
I just got traktor 3 updating from 2.6 for 39$.
Traktor 3 was designed under mac osx 10.4.1 so to get the most out of it you are looking at those intel macs.

I, just like every other apple user, am stuck to 10.3.9 :(
Fu*k You apple! Fu*k you and your fuc*ing ipod campains and your fu*king DRM (Digital rights managment) BULL.
Fu*king over your loyal customers so that you can get cheaper chips
and target windows users...
Fu*k you.. I hope you fuc*in go bankrupt! :whip:
I am so sad I have invested 6000 $ in my computer and now I am not be able to update :(
And it's not like I can afford to switch :(
So much money you apple:mad:   :whip: :whip:

Anyways apple rant over.

On topic:

The sound quality is superb.
Amazing impovement over 2.6
It is simply not even the same program anymore.

You get so many controlls.
For example you can beat juggle with buttons, throw the track 32 beats foward in time, you can mix with 4 decks with each deck the slave or the master, loop stuff ect.
The program is unbelievably advanced, the screan sets are clean and pro looking and he eq and internal effects are suprisingly good.

I suggest you get an RME soundcard with rca outs to go with it.
These soundcards have Asahi Kasei converter chips and sound superb.
A second option would be to add the bitstream 3x and fader fox modules and forget having a mixer altogether.

that looks unreal that must be one intense party who and where was that?

traktor is great. It's generally simple enough for a beginner, yet complex as you need it to be for the advanced.

The event was in Athens Greece in Club22 by a techno team called 'Blend'.
No cds or vinyl where used.
This is Dj Chris Liebing and producer Speedy J touring for 'collabs'.
They play hard evil techno for the most part.
Although the warm up was minimal stuff, '2 dollar egg' e.c.t.

If you like ambient IDM music check out ‘Various’ – ‘artificial intelligence 2’on warp records (1994) where Speedy J contributed his symmetry track.
It is also available for download at www.bleep.com
Great cheese free melodic music on one of my favorite cds ever!

The mixer you mentioned is really good.
It sounds great, it can output midi and it also has the best most accurate crossfader on a 4 channel mixer.
How much money do you think on spending on your set up?
Will you want to integrate Ableton as well or just Traktor?
spolitta
Yeah, as everybody else said Traktor 3 is a great program but I think it should only be used as a music playback device and leave the mixing to be done on a real mixer. The Nuo will do just fine; you can probably go for nuo4 and a good 4 channel soundcard. I have the Hercules DJ as my soundcard / midi controller and I'm getting a Xone:62 as the mixer. If you have the money you should get the best soundcard you can afford.

For laptop you should really wait a few months till rock direct (www.rockdirect.com) brings their new core due laptops. They usually go around $1800 with the added 2x100GB 7200rpm hard drives and 2GB of ram, and they are made very well. If you find these expensive then you can get a core due Toshiba for around $800, just make sure the hard drive is fast enough.

I have been doing a few gigs with Traktor 2.6 and 3 and all of them went well. Many pro DJs will tell you that crowd don’t like to see someone with a laptop playing music for them, this is entirely incorrect. People don’t give a f***, it all about the music.

For 1600us$ I would get a rme soundcard
and a G4 with some additional ram (256 is not gonna cut it) and a midi cable

I found it as low as 700$.
For traktor 3.0 it should suffice provided you load it with ram.

You could get a fancy new Intel laptop but that will not leave money for a soundcard...

Few points:
- Traktor 3.1 has been announced and should be out in August

- Merom (Dual core 2) laptops should be here VERY soon. They are simialrly priced to current laptops and their processors are MUCH faster than any current processor and run cooler..

- Samsung is coming out with hybrid hard drives... Think 4 gigs of Flash (read: fast, non-destructive, reliable) with regular HD storage.. It should be perfect for music.. A lot less chances of hard drive overheating, etc, since there is no platter moving, heat dissipating, etc..

sounds exicting i cant wait hopefully those new laptops are out sooner rather than later

MACBOOK69
will traktor 3 work with intel macs,fs2 wont made by the same company, ni

Sucks that someone like myself can run 10.4.7 on a Dell and you're suck at 10.3.9 doesn't it?
