Ok here's a good link
Link
Honestly, this author is on crack. A couple of quotes that I think explain themselves.
| quote: | | Orwell mistakenly prophesied that governments would successfully use technology as a weapon to obliterate liberty. Communications would spread propaganda-the "Big Lie"-and electronics would be used for surveillance and thought control. |
| quote: | | In fact, realizing that the Internet is necessary just to compete in the world markets, the government has begun to spend large amounts of money on getting the country wired. | Yes, and controlling what can and cannot be seen. Where the goernment fails, the corporations where you work pick up. I can't tell you how pissed I was to see backdoorbandits.com was blocked on my computer at my internship.
| quote: | | Most of us cannot even count the number of computers we own, because we don't know how many are hidden in our microwave ovens and automobiles. | I think it's priceless, the use of the word hidden, considering the phone taping scandal. (Yes I know they arent the bugs we see in movies, but it stil conjures that image)
I never thought I would say this, but I think we found somebody more infatuated with technology than Zabiela.
HA, thinking it over again, this must not be the link you are trying to send. I tried the new one you gave and it says the article doesn;t exist. At least I got a good laugh out of this one. |

http://www.alterslash.org/#Photogra...ce_Get_Arrested
“Last month a man was arrested in New Hampshire after presenting evidence of a police officer being verbally abusive that he had captured on his home security camera system. Now just recently in Philadelphia a 21 year old student was arrested on his property after he took a photo of the police who were in the process of arresting a drug dealer down the street.” From the article: “Cruz said that when he heard a commotion, he walked out of his back door with his cell phone to see what was happening. He said that when he saw the street lined with police cars, he decided to take a picture of the scene. ‘I opened (the phone) and took a shot,’ Cruz said. Moments later, Cruz said he got the shock of his life when an officer came to his back yard gate.”
better open the thread before it dissapears :p |

| Very nice site. The article was gone, but I have been browsing through the other stuff, very interesting. Just wish they would put forth a tiny bit of effort to organize everything. |

you would actually defend this move by "its just a draft". yes, its just a draft, the fact they're introducing it at all means nothing. if this draft becomes law and it finds you guilty, i think you might actually still defend them behind those cell doors |

i don't want harp on you. it's just that i don't trust ANNE HARPER FLAHERTY's spin as much as you don't trust the U.S. Senate.
rest assured. the Bill of Rights will always trump statutory law anyday of the week...if your a citizen. if your John Paul Stevens, it's anyone you want. |
