However, I find it a little convenient for the ticket sales that the announcement was put out on the day of the festival, and yet Global Gathering had been removed from PVD's list of gigs on his website about a week previous.

Still, at least he offered a club night in return. Lets hope he doesnt expect us to travel to Germany for it.

I think that's more to do with gkgg than paul himself though.

There should have been a big sign on the way in saying that PVD isnt playing and Oakie isnt going to mix any of his tunes and the sound system will be turned down really low in the main arena and if you want you can have a full refund if you dont want to come in.

In the main arena there were posters with a letter and his signature on about him not playing. they were on the supports. funny tho that everyone thought it was PVD when it was armin who played for an angel.

On a more positive note, how did the rest of the day go? :)

Well, if PVD knew he had family problems back on the day he took the gig off his website - he should have announced it at that point. To save a full weeks worth of people who MAY have been going just to see him continuing to buy tickets.

I suspect he may have told GK back a week ago and they said "can you keep it quiet for now so we dont lose ticket sales" - the no.1 Dj in the world at that point should have said "No".

I think he did the right thing. I wouldnt be upset at him. You also have to take into consideration if he DID spin all he would be doing is thinking about his family member that needs him and he would be quite distracted from putting on a good show. He probably wouldnt be in the best mood either.

Agreed. I dont think he had any choice really.
Its my personal suspicion that GK knew quite a while ago though and chose to be sneaky about it.
It's GK people should be miffed at if anyone.

(I'm just pissy at PVD for not being at Dance Valley this year and leaving us with that abysmal closing set from Armin instead of some similar genious to his set last year !)

Agree with you there mate. A lot of people were slating me on the Gods board for saying the main reason we all went was for PVD. Nothing wrong with that as he is our fave and the best in our opinion.

That Gods board is just full of wankers though. The Matt Hardwick board is by far the best as people dont just take the piss out of everything you say.

And people have a right to be dissapointed as PVD was THE headline dj in the MAIN arena so it makes sense that more people would come to see him more than anybody else.

i would only have gone to see PvD so glad i didnt, would have been well annoyed, obviously completely understandable tho. Still think it is weird the date was removed from his diary a couple of weeks ago. Fishy

PVD cancels a LOT of shows for bull reasons.

He's done it before, he'll do it again... Otherwise he's got the biggest ing family ever with the worst health they could possibly have...

+1 ... unless he's just using it as an excuse... but I guess there's no reason to believe that

not true. he cancelled a show in Milwaukee a few years ago because he got booked to play several consecutive unannounced gigs in Ibiza that were going to pay $1,000,000. his excuse for cancelling on his US shows was because he contracted a case of food poisoning and his manager and/or "doctor" recommended he not travel.

not only that, but first he rescheduled and pushed the show to a different date about a week later, then cancelled like a day or 2 before the rescheduled date.

there was a huge article in one of the local papers here, interviewing the guy who was in charge of promoting the show and how he basically just got ed over.
