I am sure PVD was too.
The fact that they had Eddie Halliwell, who wasnt anywhere else on the lineup, there ready to fill PVDs shoes means they knew in advance.
Theres about as much chance that they just happened to get hold of Eddie on the phone and he said "sure I'll come play!" as there was of booking him on the off chance that someone MIGHT pull out.
They knew in plenty of time and just hushed it up.
No big surprise, its what promoters do.
Ironically, it was Eddie who didnt show up at Dance Valley despite being on the list.
(not that I lost any tears over THAT) |
if you remember that they had the eddie haliwell graphips playing on the big screens on the stage then it cant have been a last minute thing.
nobody in thier right mind can critisize anyone for chosing family over music. yeah there are some selfish people out there that will moan because their sole reason for buying a £64 ticket to an event with over 150 djs at didnt make it. but if someone in my family was ill then id do the same if i was in that position. im sorry but thats the way it is. music and djing and everything just isnt as important as many people seem to think.
whatever the truth, still happens and it looks to me as if gods knew but handled it completely the wrong way by worrying about loss of sales. rather than damage limitation by putting another dj on who has a similar big name (dare i say it) tiesto or someone.
i enjoyed armins extended set but would have enjoyed it just that bit more if 1) the lights were working, 2) someone got a mic on the stage and actually told us what was going on and 3)there werent so many bloody chavs in there looking for trouble.
it seems to me this year theres been far too many things that went wrong that overshadowed what actually was improved on last year ie getting in to the site under 10 minutes.
hopefully the organisers can try and do things better next year because this years resembled more of an illegal rave than a music festival |

| graphics take a minute to copy on to the gig hardrive, so hardly proof of long-term booking |

Let me clear some things up. Eddie Halliwell had been booked for the Godskitchen Arena from the start, just at a later time 03:00am til 04:00am if my memory serves me correctly.
Secondly, This is the second major event PvD has canceled with GK for 'Family Reasons'.
Thirdly, the date was taken down from Paul's website about a week prior to the event, but GK released no information about this.
I think theres a lot more going on than GK and Paul would like to tell us. There may have been some sort of fall out between the two. Thats just my suspicion tho |

eddie WAS booked in advance, this was the first initial lineup to be released, ages ago (6th line down):
he was originally down to play between PvD & mark eteson. it's obvious gods knew what was going to happen before printing the on-sale lineups, since they took eddie out & put jules in his place, when eddie never mentioned anything of pulling out. it looks to me like they wanted people to believe eddie only got roped in as a last minute replacement... when they actually knew about the change of plan before the lineups were printed. they would never have had jules play twice in the same tent unless there was a cancellation
bit of foul play by gods really... unfortunately they know they can take advantage of clueless pillheads who will only go & see PvD based on the name, stick anyone on instead and not have most of them know any different. case in point, this post on UKTA:

Haha, my mate just informed me of something quite funny. He left my house in Stafford yesterday afternoon to travel back to Ipswich, and he happened to have Dave Pearce on on Radio 1, and he was talking about Global, and people were phoning in and telling him what they thought the best set was. Someone phoned up and said "Hello Dave, well I though Paul van Dyk played a blinding set" Dave Pearce said something like "Thanks for calling in, so Paul made your night did he?" the caller said "Yeah".

Ah well, I'd care if I were at Global, but the irritating under-18s rule means that I'm not. At least the football keeps me happy. Up the Saints! :) |
You can get in pretty much any age to the big events dude |

I've just got off the phone with Paul and I have the real reason to everything that happened.
Apparently, when he takes a booking, one of the demands he always makes is that they get him some thick German sausage.
GK couldn't get any, so they asked him if they could get him thick English sausage.
When he said yes they got him Eddie Halliwell. |
