Addy is one of the best dj's in toronto and in my opinion hes the best local dj and he does not stink, ever
he might have an attitude or w/e ;) but hes crazy on the decks. He plays amazing energetic techy house and a lot of people get into it but with Addy its either hit or miss, you either think he's amazing or you think he sucks but he definately does not suck. The best is when he did 4 decks at the same time with Paranoid Jack at Footwork, it was insane. |

i think the thing that makes addy seem like a ty dj at times is his fearless approach in spinning. the guy has no hesitation mixing four records in a matter of seconds, and sometimes the final product sounds sloppy - and there is the occasional trainwreck. but thats addy's style, take it or leave it. theres no denying his skill, but to the average listener - they dont pay attention to the layers, rather the 'mistakes' that are obvious. at the end of the day, he is a very good dj - and the number of gigs he gets on a weekly proves this. |

That's exactly what I said - he wouldn't let the track play on its own - mixing is nice and showing skill is cool but for the love of music let it go for some time!! PLEASE..
Techy-tribal is good, but this was just ridiculous and I don't think I ever had to move my feet so fast, unless I was running.
And the most commercial tracks that I heard 532347 times were playing for the 2 hours I was there... I'm not complaining too much (am i?) because I had a ing awesome weekend anyways, but just saw this topic and thought I should share. Sharing is good.
Jason hates me now.:nervous: |

exactly, thats what makes him great. He can be talking to someone, shaking another guys hand, smoking and mixing in another record all at the same time within 3-4 seconds and it would sound amazing. Sometimes that is the reason for the occasional trainwreck but try mixing 3-4 records at once, it takes load of skill and anyone can make a mistake. He's usually really into his mixing and he will refuse talking to you when hes on the decks, thats why some people think he's a prick but he is definitely one of the nicest guys. I also respect the fact that hes not your regular house dj who will spin all the newest electro house and maybe that is the reason for the average listener not liking his music. I respect everyone's opinion but saying dj sucks just because you do not like his style or the genre he plays is really stupid. |

I dont think karina said he sucked, she just said the music stunk.... which she is totally entitled to feeling. Like her, i am into a more steady, sleazy groove when it comes to house music - so i can see where the disappointment came in for her. On the other hand, i have heard some people call Sean Miller 'boring' or 'he lets the track play TOO long'.... to each his own. |

| people might have their own dislikes, but i myself would not come on a public forum and diss one of toronto's most succesful dj's, especially when you promoter at a toronto nightclub. that's bad business i think. |

| I'm not a promoter and Floorwhore didn't say anything bad about Addy, and I'm sure he's a great guy yes yes.. but the docks totally killed my mood yesterday and I believe it was Addy on the decks.. I said Addy stunk, okay let me rephrase and say the music stunk. a lot. |

again you do not understand the point. You may not liked it because you do not like the particular genre of music that he plays but that does not mean his music is because there are many others who would disagree with you. What you can say is that YOU did not like it and im sure the music didn't stink. |

Where exactly did I diss Addy? Can you go back and find it for me? Please? I simply said that when one mixes four records at once they are bound to make the odd mistake.... In terms of dj'ing, Addy is a risk taker when it comes to his style of mixing - and in doing so, he has become one of Toronto's most successful locals.
And the whole M & S fiasco (which i admitted to making a mistake, and communicating something completely different than what I meant) seemed to die down after I explained myself. I even spoke with them at the event that I apparently 'didn't want to see them at', and there were no hard feelings.
I think they are big enough boys that they can defend themselves, and for one who supposidly doesn't like the politics in the scene, you sure like to make people think otherwise. Until I start talking about 'knowing a lot' about the Vinyl Junkies, I dont see the point in you running your mouth. Thanks. |

freedom of speech and thought...
if he wishes to say anything about a dj, u cant tell him not to.
If u should know, I thought the whole time I was at the docks (from around 5:30 - 8:30) was garbage...not only addy's set....addy's set is what made us leave... |
