| actually if I invest my time and hard work to a track I want people to judge it as a whole not by damned 30 seconds (including ARs) if a label can't handle that, they are propably not as good as they should be... ;) |

| You get that many demos that you need a 30 sec clip rule? |

I have to agree..
Still, ideas with clips is a nice one, I've been thinking about it myself setting up a page for labels where they can stream a sample of something I pick out. I just don't think limiting the length is that good.. for example, for this sample I felt I needed 1min and 30 secs to show the buildup and energy in the later parts: http://www.emortal.se/music/emortal..._end_sample.mp3
Clips is great, but a longer clip length would be better I think, I mean, you could just skip through it if you'd wanted, and the filesize wouldn't be that much higher if compressed at 128 kbit..
Anyway, thats my opinion only :) |

The clip Idea could be nice but please, BIGGER clips than! 30secs is way too short. Clips of 3 minutes are good, you can at the break in there and the climax, that will give you a better impression. And I think the first impression is the best, and I also think that you cant get that out of a 30secs clip.
Thank you kindly! :) |

i think everyone is missing the idea, u can tell right off the bat if the producer has the right sound or not, and u can probably hear that in under 30 seconds. Meaning after that 30 seconds he will get ahold of you for the "full version".
Its a great way to allow the more dedicated people to hand in demos.
Some labels, like Defected, only allow demos to be mailed, not sent electronically which in my opinion is a hell of a lot more of a pain in the ass.
Proffessional djs/producers will know right off the bat whether a track is fit for their label, having the 30 second rule is just getting rid of the garbage that many people send in. |

Maybe you should just put me on ignore so you wouldn't have to follow me around all the time. |

+1
Just the way I feel about it...
It's possible to hear if a track is the right one in 30 seconds, but i think it's better to send a lower bitrate mp3 thats longer than 30 seconds instead. |
