i think a good track will be visable from a 30 second sample. and it allows the a+r to cut down on the time they spend dealing with big files. most 6mb files take a minute to download for me. a 30 sec file will be about 2mb at 320k and will say more than enough about a good track.
this place is turning into a place where grumpy/troubled/upset with life/etc internet geeks take out their anger. lets have a more pro-active approach on here? |

I don't think I'm grumpy/troubled/upset with life/etc internet geek, I just think that once I made a track, even when it's a bad one...the fact that I did invest my time and made some kind of art deserves to be seen as a whole!
Galleries don't ask painters to send a part of 2x2 cm of their new painting, it's just stupid! |

i wasnt having a go at you personally man.:)
i just think that the guy is getting a whole lot of agro that aint necessary. if he wants samples 30 seconds long then let it be that way.
wildchild - dont be put off promoting on ta. thats what this forum is about - however i have been targetted for flaming on many occassions.. personally, i would delete/repost the thread cos this has been ruined by flame war. hope you get the demo's youare looking for:) |

That is quite an out of the context remark, since art and music are soo different.
30 Secs is quite good for both parts,
The A & R can check lots of submissions in less hours , and so he can get back to you faster if he likes the clip. Also, this forces the submitter to send what he consider the best part of the track, if the A & R don't like the best part of your song, you are better off not signing it to them, you wanna sign a track to a record label that BELIEVES in your production
The artist don't have to worry about his track being leaked.
If he has a slow internet connection, sending a 30 secs clip is no problem, and if the A&R likes your clip, you would be more than happy waiting 8 hours for your computer to send the whole file.
You get the chance to tell the A & R what you consider is the best part with the 30 sec clip.
I'll be sending some stuff as soon as I finish some.
