Too big a promoter (pg. 3)

So is BAS this big name DJ that most people will run to see play at a club?
Here's alittle something if someone is really interested in really becoming a known DJ and getting up there.
A friend of mine, who've I've known now for about 5-6 yrs asked me a few years ago to help hook him up so he could play at Spundae. Well as time was passing, he'd give me CDs to pass out and I continued to see what I was able to do. He'd ask me time to time if I had heard anything.
I continued in helping him but I also told him that he'd have to do some self-promoting himself because there are just too many DJs out there. I finally hooked in up with a couple of peeps and he got his debut at Spundae one night, in the loft.
When I found out he was going to play, I told him that he best fill up that loft with as many friends as he could.
Well guess what? He had many friends that came out to support him. Not only that but he played some kick @SS tracks during his set and believe me, he had the loft packed the whole time with everyone dancing. Everyone was happy with this guy and right away was told that he had a chance of playing the back room.
Well this past Saturday he played again but this time he was opening up in the back room. He was a bit scared thinking he'd be playing for an empty room, I thought the same thing. Well we were both wrong. This guy had a good crowd in that room and once again played some awesome tracks.
It's all about believing in yourself and having friends & supporters if you want to be asked to play and play again. My friend's dream to play for one of the biggest club here came true. It did take time, patience and alot of practice & effort to get what he dreamed of. Not everyone or anyone gets asked to play at Spundae.
Obviously BAS was not confident enough that he'd have any supporters and turned the offer down. The other thing is why do you guys always feel the need to talk about promoters or other people involved in the EDM scene? You know attitudes also play a part in this. |

exactly my point. I didn't realize this guy was so big that he expected a full crowd waiting for him. Considering he has never played in a major club, one would have to prove himself. But the reason why he declined is bcuz he has his head up cloSHA's ass and clovis has his head up someone else's ass. I have never in my life heard of someone turning down the opporutnity to play even if it was for a bbq @ 2pm in the afternoon. oh well..... Im glad they played the last resort card. that is a good reason right there especially when they were the 2nd person to be asked. Woody being the first, it would have been cool to do a midi line up. |

| Sorry, just didn't feel like playing at Spundae on what was undoubtedly a lame night, I had much more fun at Avalon. And it's not wether or not I would have any supporters, because let's face it the majority of you don't really like house, everyone I would've wanted to show up was at Lawler :p. Me, unconfident? No way, I like what I play and I know i'm good. I'd just like my first "big" club experience to be something a little more fun. Plus, yeah, Mike's a dick. |

| its just funny how when I first talked to you, you were excited to play and I even told you I would give you the 2nd slot so you can still make it to lawler with all ur friends. I figure you were due to play @ spundae and with woody in the line up it would have been nice. I'm not a fan of trance and I wanted house upstairs cuz trance was in the other rooms. but I know the reason why you PM'd me that lame message is cuz you are clovis's bitch. You are a good dj no doubt but just pretty faded how you coudln't make decisions for yourself. and you were the 2nd phone call after woody. and there are handful of dj's wanting to play @ spundae. I even told you that I just wanted to give you an opportunity. Sorry for trying to help someone out. |

All I remember was that Bas was NOT a last resort for the night. I was asked about other DJs and I mentioned your name. I even told you about it and you sounded excited. But something happened afterwards, that you changed your mind. If my mind serves me correctly, Bas has wanted to play at Spundae before. Even when we used to do Element you would tell me how bad ass would be for you and I to play at Spundae. That was your chance and I'm sorry but you blew it. Every DJ has to start somewhere before playig in the main room.
I'm also sick and tired of people saying that Spundae is all TRANCE... NOT TRUE. Spundae is 3 rooms, with 3 styles of music. Most of the time I play there, I play house. Spundae has NEVER told me what to play, they always tell me to be my self and have fun. |

Exactly. I still remember the first night Woody played at SPUNDAE and the first night Joshua Allen played and of course my other friend Mario Best. Getting there took time and seeing the look on their face while they played and after was the look of a DJ that takes his dream serious.

... and I can confirm that he definitely plays what he wants, is himself (chingon!) and has a great time playing.
"PLAY SOME MORE TECHNO!!!" :toothless |

| Again, I apologize, I was thankful for the opportunity and I would still love to play at Spundae. I was excited before I found out exactly who I was playing for. |
