This is an evil topic, you have awaken the deamons that lurk around this forum, flaming noobies that ask this question!!! :whip:  :D

Anyways, the search buttons will get you these results:
z3ta+
Rapture
Albino 3 (my favorite)
Vanguard
V-Station

I also recommend
Surge
FM7 (can do some very bright supersaws, it has good unison possibilities)
Synth 1 (It's free, can't hurt to try it..)

how about for drums
ronk
for drums and percussions use samples with eq/compression. you'll probably never use vst's for making drums/percs.

the thread called "trance synth showcase" will give you some examples of popular synth capabilities. Just be sure to check the first post.
