*Patiently waits for the day Nintendo is going to go out of business.*
I hope that wasn't a real commercial. Cause even PS2 is better than Wii.
And did Nintendo just try to criticise Sony on their selection of games? AHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA. HEY NINTENDO, WHEN I FEEL LIKE PLAYING ANOTHER ADAPTATION OF MARIO BROS FOR THE GAJILLIONTH TIME, I'LL GIVE YOU A CALL! For now, sit down, stfu, and continue appealing to first-graders. |

Ah...no. Although Sony has a lot of games for the PS1 and PS2, their game library cannot try and match Nintendo's. Just think of the number of systems they have put out:
Nintendo (20+ years):
NES
SNES
N64
Gamecube
Gameboy
Gameboy Advanced
Nintendo DS
Sony (10 Years):
PS1
PS2
PSP
I love video games, and I love insane graphics, but I will be picking up a wii (most likely), why?
-Cheap
-Nintendo back catalouge for download
-New Motion Controllers
Nintendo bets on gameplay and controllers. Sony is betting on processing power and Blue-ray. Which would you rather a video game company concentrate on? |

I'm surprised you didn't drag Atari into this when you were going through the history of all consoles ever released. Nintendo's future started looking grim when PSX was released. By the time PS2 was released, the only people buying Gamecubes were parents for their kids.
I was talking games, not consoles, you take the game library for any one Playstation console, and try to find a Nintendo console that can match not only the number of games but as well as variety, then we'll talk.
Nintendo became the Apple of the video game world. |

I agree... why would anyone get a PS3 when they can buy a Wii and an Xbox 360 for the same price?
And Orko... don't forget the
Virtual Boy
Game Boy Color
Does anyone remember the stampedes at E3??? It was pretty funny to see people waiting for 6 hours to play for 5 minutes on the Wii, but hardly anybody lined up for Sony's booth.

And Fur... PS2 is not better than a Wii... The PS2's processor is actually about 1/2 as powerful as the Gamecube, and 1/3 as powerful as the original Xbox. The Wii's hardware is better than the gamecubes as well, but they really haven't said much about it (probably because it's garbage in comparison to the PS3). But it certainly beats the PS2 by a long shot. |

EDIT: Nevermind, I read it as "the PS3 processor is half as powerfull as the Wii" for some reason.
I'm going to pick up a Wii... for the games like Mario and Zelda. At its price, its a steal, in my opinion. How much is the Sony going for? $500US? No thanks. |

And the processor does not determine how good a console is. |
This really should be common knowledge... the PS2 is not a powerful console by any means.
http://www.popularmechanics.com/tec...rs/1278831.html
"When it comes to the actual specs, the Xbox is the most powerful with a 733-MHz processor, leaving PS2 and GameCube in the dust at 295 and 485 MHz, respectively."
Yes, I agree that clock speeds are not the be-all and end-all of game performance, but as documented in that article and many others like it, graphics on the PS2 are dramatically inferior to those on the gamecube. If a game is ported to gamecube and PS2, you should obviously get the gamecube version, because in the end, it's going to look better, have better frame rates, and play smoother. |

But just _a_ wii? more like two wiis and a couple of games or one wii and a load of games!
I see no innovation in PS3, nothing that makes me say "wow, that looks like fun". It's just a more powerful box, pretty graphics. Same crap they've been doing for years. |

Maybe you didn't quite parse my sentence correctly... what I meant was:
Why would anyone get a PS3 when they can buy (a Wii AND an Xbox 360) for the same price?
Make sense now? You can spend $700 on a PS3, or $300 and $400 on a Wii and an XBOX. |
