I was just in town for a week taking care of some school stuff and i went to stages on the sat night. I guess we showed up at the right time becuase the DJ there was dropping some SICK house tunes and you wouldn't beleive this but the club was RAMMED and bumping. i was shocked to see poeple enjoying it rather than just bobbing up and down! The sound was loud and crisp.

Stages would be a good choice because we could use the upstairs as VIP and downstairs for general admission.

What's the capacity at Stages? How "BIG" of an event are you talking?

I went to a few parties in Kingston during the school year while up there. Had plenty of turn out!

You will get some turn out, but not enough for a big event. And like Ashley stated, the sound sytems are crap. And remember, people in Kingston are used to paying $0-$5 cover charges....so you won't get away with charging too much. So depending on the name you bring, you may not get your $ back.

As for the Goatface Ball...can't say I have heard of it.

I can't tell if you're serious .... Guv's capacity (without KoolHaus) is like twice that.

Better?? lol I'm totally joking, Stages sucks. Maybe it's because proably 75 percent of the people are underage thereand the fact that the sound is awful and it's all top 40 and mainstream house. You have to be ridicously drunk to have a good time there. I wish there was a better place to go in Kingston, but there isn't. That's why I come to Toronto.

The funny thing with them Nada, is they DJ here once and a while, and you'd think with all their productions that they know what to play, but they play dark tech house, which I can't even listen to, and I love trance and like house. There just isn't a scen here.

It's like Armin van Who...or Tiesto, who the is that...that's how bad it is.

As i mentioned before, the reason i want to throw this is because we want to capatalize on an increasing population of electronica appreciators in Kingston. The core of the appreciators are mainly queens students that haven;t been properly exposed and think that electronica is 'Call on me S**t'. My housemate has decks and always spins at our place, EVERYONE that i invite over to listen fall in love (he has amazing track selection along with great mixing skills).

So the point of the blurb is that i have been tracking the growing interest and beleive that it would work.

Goatface ball is a Formal Party that we throw for charity every year in march, We always sell out. I brought one of my buddies to spin and people showed interest. Even the hardcore hip hoppers.

As for teh venue. i can't ask for too much out of them. Baby steps.

Well props to you for trying to get some kind of EDM event here, and good luck with it, and I'm sure I would be there to support it. But for everyone that likes EDM here, there's that other person that is like, "Oh My God, you like RAVE music". It's just the mentality here. I know it sucks, but it's just the way it is here. Smidgies, like 6-7 years ago, had a good thing goin', but it died. Eyezcream threw a couple good parties at the Portugese Hall and the Italo Club, but they were short lived too. I just don't think EDM works here. But good luck anyways!!
