try it first.
Or, for a lot less, go with the VSOP. Still very good. |

Tripod Rum, mmmm sounds good! :p
I'll go for Bacardi rum. |
OMG, what a sin! Bacardi tastes like pure alcohol. I mean even their '8 Year Old' is awaful. Since you live in the states and they dont sell very good rum there, try captain morgans which is A LOT better and still cheap. |

but back to Absolut, i seriously dunno why you say it tastes awful :conf: |
Because I don't like it, I haven't had it in a few years, so I can't be really specific, but as I recall, it's really harsh compared to other things like what I mentioned. Try Sky, too, as it's another I prefer over Absolut.
Oh, and the Svedka that I mentioned, is $18.99 for a 1.75 liter bottle at the liquor store I go to in New York City. They have also introduced some flavors, too, like Clementine.
To each their own, though. Taste is very subjective, I've just found that many people like Absolut because they're familiar with it because of their amazing marketing campaign, but when I give them some other options off my bar at home, they're usually pleased. |

Svedka's about as good as I've found for the prices you can get it for...runs about 22-23 where I go, though.
Regular absolut is narsty. Mandrin = win. Same with grey goose...except the regular & L'Orange are just both much better than their Swedish counterparts. The normal Grey Goose isn't worth it, IMO. |

I don't drink much. I also should be ashamed for not trying whisky, which is the national drink here. |

again, it's all about availability. we don't have Svedka here. in any case, i would rate Absolut's taste as less harsh than Stoli's for instance. we have SKYY here, and it's cheaper than Absolut, but i notice a tendency in vodka where the better the quality, the less i want to kill myself the next day, and well, even tho i did take it pretty far with a bottle of Skyy, i've drank way more than that, slept less, and not been as messed up the next day. ah well...
i'll make sure to check Svedka out as soon as i get the chance. |
