Darkbeat & Private Function present…
Petter [LIVE] (Border Community – Sweden)
Saturday September 23 – Portland Hotel. 10pm – late.
Over the last five years, Private Function & Darkbeat have both been responsible for bringing Melbourne some of the finest tech house, progressive & breaks artists from around the globe, such as Lee Burridge, Anthony Pappa, Steve Porter, Elite Force, Matthew Dekay, Habersham, Chris Fortier, and Omid 16b.
After the overwhelming success of their first joint venture that was Anthony Pappa at F4 back in April – Darkbeat and Private Function join forces once again to bring you one of the most exciting acts to come out of Europe in some time – Petter – LIVE.
Petter

Petter is a 20 year old DJ and producer from Stockholm in Sweden who is fast forging his own unique niche in the musical spectrum. With famous releases such as the sublime ‘These Days’ on Holland’s Deep records and the two slices of loveliness-on-vinyl that was his ‘Six Songs EP’ and the absolutely blinding remix of The MFA 'The difference it makes' for James Holden’s label Border Community, Petter has won himself fans from all corners of the globe, and a more solidly diverse young talent you’d struggle to find.
Petter’s music wears its diverse influences on its sleeve, fusing together tech house, progressive and techno, dub, ambient, acid, breaks and deep house in his own unique style. Sasha is a confirmed follower, recently reviving and remixing ‘These Days’ for his ‘Involver’ compilation, but Petter’s tracks are equally at home in the more offbeat sets of everyone from Laurent Garnier, to Phil K, to Josh Wink, to Trevor Jackson and The Hacker.
The young Swede is also gaining a reputation for his own DJ sets, an equally unique hybrid of tech-tinged dubbed-out house and techno. As well as appearances around Stockholm, Petter holds quarterly residencies at Border Community’s label nights at Turnmills in London, and many other strong holds throughout Europe.
One of the most promisingly diverse acts to come to Melbourne in some time, do not miss this very rare opportunity to see Petter – LIVE.
Support Lineup:
Gavin Keitel

Amongst the Melbourne electronic dance music community, Gavin Keitel is the quiet achiever to have made the biggest impact. Instead of being the pin-up boy, Gavin is the DJ that any crew might call to get the job done right, and to add credibility to the event. Whether it be the local house club, the 8000 person event, or the national tour, he is often entrusted with the most delicate set times for the most important events. Why? Because he is focused on the moment, and the sound. A DJ set at the hands of Gavin Keitel is a pleasure in any music lover's books. He brings with him the highest level of professionalism, coupled with a raw passion for what he does. That is why he has been, and will continue to be one of Australia's premier league DJs.
Rollin Connection

Darius Bassiray & Daniel Banko have been extremely busy playing main sets at various benchmark parties around Melbourne, both warming up and closing after some of the worlds best DJ’s. Recently they have not just been restricted to the DJ booth, with the bastard childs of Darkbeat running an array of successful events, recently hosting international heavyweight Lee Burridge. Studio time has also been a priority - with Darius having 6 records set for release in 2006 – Lorenzo [Proton Music], Drive By (Rollin Connection) – Proton Music, Gyppo Funk [Iron Box] & Our Sound [Proton Music] with Stuart Mckeown. Most recently, Bassiray & Mckeown won the world wide Blake Jarrell - Okoboji remix competition with their remix edging out 200 of the worlds best producers, and earning them another full release on Proton Music, and he has just finished remixing Mckeown’s Beat Port Techno Top 10 Release – Clicks That Go Beep soon to be released along with a remix from Jesse Somfay.
Dean Millson

Since launching Private Function in 2001, Dean has helped it grow to Melbourne’s premier purveyor of progressive sounds. With a reputation built around being versatile enough to play almost any room size or timeslot, Dean has warmed up for many of the worlds best, such as Mathew Dekay, Chris Fortier, and Anthony Pappa. This year has seen Dean take the next step, opening the Global Underground room Two Tribes, along with a main room set supporting Paul Van Dyk looming at the end of March. With quite a number of big plans in place for PF in 2006 make sure you watch this space.
Stuart Mckeown

Some of you many be familiar with the name Stuart McKeown, some may not. Once a fond member of the Melbourne community, Stuart carved a name for himself through his no nonense approach to music & production, converting many into the ways of the MC Lifestyle. But all was not to be, labelled a Gypsy he was banished from the lands of Australia back to his native Ireland....Now armed with more Deep Techy records than ever he's back. This will be Stuart's first gig back in Melbourne & hopefully one of many. You can subscribe to his latest podcast at http://www.stuartmckeown.com/ if you need your daily fix of proper music. Be sure to check out his excellent releases including the ‘Broken Caravan’ and the ‘My Little Pikey’ EP’s on Proton Music, as well as forthcoming material for Iron Box Music.
Matt Hofman

Subsequent to moving to Melbourne in 2001, Matt Hofman has performed at warehouse parties and club gigs such as Room and Metro; guest spots for Earthcore and Kinetik; and, he holds a residency at Darkbeat. His DJ accolades also includes playing along side most of Melbourne's best such as Phil K, Ivan Gough, Ozzie LA, Gavin Kietel, Scrambler; and, international talents, Steve Gerrard, Klaus 'Heavyweight' Hill and Aquasky. Matt Hofman cannot be pigeon holed owing to his continuously changing and innovative style that is always funky and never cheesy. He can drop anything from funked up jazzy House, Progressive House/Trance, Breakbeat, Electro House, Tech House, Tribal and Techno.
There will be a strictly limited capacity to this party, with an emphasis on a quality intimate event. A limited number of earlybird tickets will be available for $20 from the Private Function & Darkbeat crews direct (PM for details).
