The sound is good for an afterhours club and the lighting is actually pretty cool....alot better than love afterhours in nyc's lighting. It just doesn't have the comfortable fraggle rock like crawl spaces. The crowd is alot more educated than any crowd at avalon and that's why they're able to book more underground acts to go with big names.
It's a good time...Josh Wink was amazing there the end of July.
I know Stasis, djy2g33, and Tranceyes22 have been there and enjoyed it. |

avalon's site doesn't say, i agree with sandstorm03 it is probably 19+. also, i never had a problem gettng in at 18 back in the day. |

rise sucks big time, it shouldnt not be considered club. no bar, small dance floor, gay crowd. i would never go there again. i went to see G&D, but did not w8 for them to even show up, i couldn see a normal couple there.
avalon is usually 19+ regardless of who is spinning.
The new site is still missing many things, but it should be 19+ :) |

rise isn't really for the trancetastic noobulars....so i could see why you didn't like it. sounds like spirit or avalon might be best for you. :) |

nothings wrong with gays, but having 5 guys(gays) around you and seeng 5 other gay couples making out is not what i went for there :) sorry :( |

I didn't realize my thread got so long!
Some info:
A) Avalon is 19+ on both Fri & Saturday nights (no matter the DJ just about)... It is pretty striclty 19+ and has been since last summer, when the whole 19 thing started getting enforced seriously.. Before you could go at 18, easily.. Now you pretty much can't.
B) Rise is a different type of a club from an Avalon... It's like comparing peaches and apples... Some people like only one, some people acn like both... Just because you like some edm music, it doesn't mean rise is the place for you.. Its a music centered place, which like any after-hours place, does not have a bar, has a good amt of a gay crowd, and is focused on enjoying a musically focused time (not getting with girls time, not guido time, not getting faced time (except for drugs for some :stongue ). I did not htink the sound system was anything bad... I saw Max Graham there, and I enjoyed the vibe.. I could care less who is standing around me in all honesty and if you do care well then the fruit for you is the peach and not the apple... Different strokes for different folks, no one right opinion :) |

this is sooo messed up. of coure i'm going back to school on spetember 1st, ALL the way in amherst, and i won't be in boston. they waited till the end of the summer to put the better djs in the club. ALL summer, there was not much of a good choice ofdjs. what kind of nonsense is that?
anyhow, i will be attending as mny shows as possible and hopefully no more bitches steal my cell phones. |
