| They all have big TV departments. That doesn't make them a good store. I would never buy anything important at Best Buy. |

Well, if you work at Gap, most probably you will also get employee discounts at their sister stores, such as Banana Republic, etc ... And getting discounts on clothes is pretty good. However, working at Best Buy is pretty cool too, because you get to be around electronics, and play around with the new high tech stuff . i have no idea. of course you can't choose the job that gives you the most discounts.
just choose the job that makes you feel good. do you like to sit in front of the cash register all day, fold clothes, and clean up dressing rooms, or stand in some section of the store stocking and restocking items on shelves, answer noob questions about digital audio eqipment, and get harrased by people asking why a price is higher than the electronics store across the street ? |

If you can tell me a better place to buy a TV, I'd love to hear it. |

Having called on national accounts for 3 years and independent retailers for 1 year, I have no trouble saying:
indy retailers > big box stores
for customer service, product knowledge, and special ordering. |

Hmm, interesting. The people at my store are extremely versatile and very helpful. You're just jealous that our computer departments alone bring in more annual revenue than CompUSA stores :) |

GAP is for chumps.
Best buy is good for CD's.
Like Ygrene, I have to say indy stores are better. |

Well I don't give a crap for customer service, and I usually know what I want to buy when I go in there. I don't browse around at a place like Best Buy. I do my research before walking in there. I just like it because they do have quite a bit of selection and it's only 10 minutes from my house. |

I know someone who worked for best buy and hated it. I don't know if it was just his store but every morning everyone had to gather and do jumping jacks saying "BEST BUY!" everytime you did one...and if you came late to a morning meeting they would make you sing "I'm a little teapot." Sounds like they have some weird psychological going on with their employees.
