Global Excursion - The MP3 Mix

Ok, this will take some doing...

Basically, what I want to be able to do, is create an MP3 Mix, using 30 DJ's.

Each DJ will submit a 5 track demo-type mix. ANY format used but sent in 160kbps MP3 format.

I will then put all the 30 mixes into a single file, mixing where possible to create a massive mega mix.

The more interest the moe DJ's.

Who's up for it, and will it work?

30 x 5 x 5mins = 12.5hrs

Leaving a lot of work on flow and harmonic matters, I'd be good luck to make the puzzle fit without any left parts. Better would be to have every dj work starting from the previous piece; of course it would require more time and would end us up with huge filesizes.
Trouble with tracks chosen twice as well.

It's a bit largescale, why not keep at it until cd10 something, when we'll be really well adjusted to playing with eachother, maybe then we could go for something a bit more ambitious, like a cd quality mix which is supposed to sound really professional in terms of track selection and mixing and sound quality (this includes someone mastering the mix). Just my idea, but if people want to go ahead with this 12.5hr mix, sure, I'll be in.

I like the idea, but more as a showcase of say 20 DJ's doing 4 tracks each. Flow doesnt matter if its a showcase, or 'fave tracks' mix.

20 X 4 sounds good to me.

Quality won't be an issue, doing it like current format will give MASSIVE files.

Hell, you know i'm down for it.

i'd make it a point that DJs should keep near enough in the same style throughout their 4 tracks, with no big bpm curves.. this would make it alot easier when it comes to merging them all together smoothly.. you wouldn't go from prog to trance then back to prog & on to techno etc, would be a bit all over the place :p

also waiting for 20-30 signups might take time.. once it's official & announced i'd just get people to submit mixes as & when they like.

Agree'd - trick to this will be DJ does 4 or 5 = Prob 5 to show off there skills, and write's down if poss the starting BPM and END BPM.

That - if kept close will help, and the mix will have to start off beaty and end beaty, to keep a good flow.

An EPIC on the cards me thinks.

OR

Each DJ can have a 20 min slot to fill. As many tracks as they want.

20 mins show off sounds nice!

the idea is very intresting, but a 12,5 hour long mix would be a bit tooo long dont you think? what i think would be lots of fun is if you stole the concept of the hardstyle event of x-qlusive - holland vs. italy.

why dont each contestant (dunno where you should set the max number of allowed participants) make a 5 track mix and and then be up against another participant. people will download the mixes and vote for who they think made the best mix.

consider it like a knock-out tournament. quarters, semis and finals. could be intresting if there where one leg with trance, one with house and so on.

of course, this competition could be a long ass one, but at least it would be quite fun and intresting... dont you think? :)
MoN-SooN
sure why not... competition always gives you extra boost...
