I read after the WC that O'Neil was very interested, but that interest on the FA's end was not mutual. McClaren was too associated with Sven's system and knew the players too well. I like that he's trying to give the younger guys a shot, but this current England squad needs a firm disciplinarian. "So Mr. Rooney, you're playing like e, well you're ing benched." O'Neil would do just that because he doesn't take any .
The FA bungle everything, I can't say I'm surprised. And if they were to axe Steve now, they'd just look stupid. |

I'd say Italian and Brazilian fans are far more cocky than England supporters. What do England fans have to be cocky about? Bi-annual QF appearances/defeats in every major tournament? Sure, we've won the World Cup but lately, all.

I can see why steves continuing with rooney ... hes still very young and at the moment his confidence is shattered for what seems like reasons other than his own ... his luck is such that he keeps getting suspended or injured just when hes in full swing and at the moment his confidence is shattered and benching him will make things even worse ...
rooney is a natural talent who is neither to mature nor experienced and you need an expert coach to handle players like that when their confidence is low.. once he gets that anger back , god help the next opposition... hope fergie sorts him out ... |

true about him having bad luck, but he hasn't scored a goal for Three Lions in over a year. I think he needs a manager to get in his face. All I see is McClaren, Fergie and Erickson beforehand, coddling him and telling the press he's England's only hope.

It has always been the way, in football and in life, that the underdogs come through, the profile that our players have and the fact that it is our national sport (and we invented the ing game, you slags) means that we feel more pressure than the other teams. Simple.
I like Croatia as a team and hoped that we were the 1,2 of the group but come on boys, a near own goal and a blatant own goal, I'd shut the up if I were you... :tongue2 :stongue: |
