CDJ or VINYL MODE.. What do you use? (pg. 3)

i think there was another thread about this but i cant seem to find it. ive been trying to use cdj mode because while i was in ibiza everyone seemed to use it and i hear the accuracy is great. but i cant seem to use it. coming from 5 years of turntables cdj mode feels like starting all over again and i get fed up with dodgy mixes so i go straight back to vinyl mode where its comfortable.

is there anyway of getting to grips with cdj mode without having the feeling of being a noob? when should it be cued and do u release it just before the beat on right on it?

cheers

Vinyl mode for me, i hate the stuttering!

Bloody hell, how many times is this question going to be asked?

Both, as and when they're needed... nothing to do with mood, they both have a place.

whatever the CDJs were left on, it seriously doesnt bother me in the slightest

Like others have said, I prefer the accuracy of cue point you get from CDJ mode.

the stut tut tut tut tut ring doesn't bother me at all ;)

I haven't started a thread on here in ages.. (I'm travelling round australia at the moment)

Noticed this and didn't know what was going on.

The thread is a year old, it's just been dug up from the past that is all.

I've yet to play on cdj mode. The stuttering, from hearing it in some live sets (obviously by accident) i think would drive me insane.

Then again, when you're listen to the stuttering because you're trying to cue the track, you probably aren't as agitated by the sound compared to just hearing it normally.

I dunno, i'll give them both a go when/if i ever get some cdj's that have both.

Oh ok sorry, didn't see the date on it ;)

Back in my day ;) all of the DJ CD players (i.e. the two models of Denon rackmount CD players that had been released by this point) only had stutter cue, so it's something I've just got used to I suppose! Definitely doesn't annoy me, I probably only have it stuttering for 2 or 3 seconds at the most each time I set a cue point... and then hitting play makes it start bang on the beat.

If you put the cue point just before the start of the beat - so when it's stuttering you can either just hear the very start of the click of the kick, or a frame back from that point - then if you hit play bang on the beat in time with the music it'll start in time... tends to be the easiest way to do it.

am i the only one who has a guilty feeling when using CDJ's. Like i mean i dunno why i feel like im cheating.. I was hanging out with one of my friends who was playing at a high school dance and littlerally he just had to put a CD in, and his mixer would automatically beatmatch for him...but yeah i dunno where iwas trying to go with this.
