Valve Sound System Documentary
I was talking to Hybrid about this, when you walk into the room with the Valve system kickin' it's a wall of bass, a force of bass that's hitting you and you can't breath. You can feel it in your chest.
Tordan
^^ Perfect macthup John. I never wanna see High Contrast with an MC again. Just ruined the entire set for me.

DJ Zinc & High Contrast ... way too smooth for any MC. Pendulum and Sub Focus don't need any MCs, their tunes do it all.
Yeah, I remember that night, L Natural & Caddy Cad killed his set.

GQ is the ! The man knows what to do ... he knows how to hype the crowd up and knows when to shut up. He's a host, not an mc.
Skibadee really hypes up the crowd to the max, but after the first 30 mins, it's really annoying and boring.
Fearless is great but, sometimes ... he's out of the control. Stopping tracks and killing the sets.
Shabba is good, but most of the time he makes no sense at all.
Daddy Earl, the new GQ. Most of us thought it was GQ at first. He has a higher voice ... but, the dude is pretty damn good.
The rest of the millions of MCs out there ... they can burn in hell.
GQ has his moments, but most of the time it's still annoying.
I understand the importance of good bass for a DNB set, but a lot of the times they overdo it imo. Modern DNB tracks have so many different layers and sounds that all too often just get drowned out when they're played live. Especially with Andy C, who'll layer like 3 tracks one on top of another, and unless the sound system is crystal clear, the effect is lost to the audience. In that respect, Docks s it up - they got a good soundsystem for sure, but besides the MC all you hear is BOOM BOOM BOOM.

Dillinja & Lemon D, Twisted Individual, Total Science, Ed Rush & Opitical, Daddy Earl, Eskman (2005), Navigator, Sharpness, hasn't been on the bill for 2 yrs now ... plus the many/ some of the DJs and MC match ups are not paired up like mine line up :P

I take it from the 0 replies in the event thread that none of the people who said they were getting interested in jungle made it out to Tour of Duty on saturday. You missed out, it was good .
Future Sound was also involved with the mampi swift party back in june, they're 2 for 2 in my books. If you want to check out a DnB event and don't know good from bad I recommend looking for that label.
edit:
For the purposes of tracklisting if you care, in the pendulum w/ verse set, track 10 (tarantula) is a double drop with tarantula. He's playing with the chorus being queued up at different instances of the chorus, it's pretty funky. That or it's an exceedingly bizzare remix.

+1
in a live situation, an MC can really hype the party... they just have to know when to stfu.

i really hate all the ty jungle djs that have basically ruined the quality of the music being made, to cator to the thug/club crowd, who really dont give two s about the quality of the music, but just use it as an image statement, like cellphones or a car
alot of those djs are on e2ek1el's dj list

DnB has always been known as the Urban side of the scene. Even in 93, when T.O discovered DnB, over in the Brixton UK ... it's 90% black ppl who attend their parties. Present time, Brixton is still the same. yes the scene has evolved a bit thuggy and etc, but it was bound to happen and look at it on the bright side, at least the thuggz aren't like 50 Cents and the GGGGggGGGGGggGGGGggGGG Unit! It's mostly fashion, if you come across one of them ... they are the once of the nicest ppl. Just like this ones here ...
