Talla 2XLC @ Glow 09/02/06 Review

My review goes something like this
I liked it :-)
Talla was right next to the DJ Booth talking to people, I had a I would call a decent conversation. We talked about German Trance, DJ technology, etc etc.
Track, in random order
Ralphie B-Massive (according to Adam)
Armin van Buuren-Control Freak (Sander van Doorn Remix)
Ferry Corsten-Galaxia, as the last track before the encores
Marcel Woods-Starsplash
Bart Claessen-Playmo vs As the Rush Comes vocal mashup
Marco V-False Light
Dogillza-Without You
and I think he played, O Callaghanand Kearney-Exactly,
Kyau vs Albert-Are You Fine?
and he also played bunch of his new productions, that I am trying to ID.

My first time checking out Glow
Crazy line but after that, good place, good tunes by both Dan and Talla, good time |

I noticed that when I came in (a little after 11:30), that the hip-hop room was packed, but the main floor still had lots of open space |

I was pleasantly surprised over a month ago when I found out that Talla 2XLC was invited back to GLOW. Talla 2XLC was one of the resident DJs at GLOW back when the party was going on at Zei and at Insomnia. I first experienced the awesomeness of Talla in April 2002, when he appeared at GLOW to promote TechnoClub 16. Over the last few years, the GLOW scene has gradually moved away from the trance sound characterized by DJs such as Talla and Cosmic Gate. Considering GLOW's recent preference for progressive house DJs, I wasn't expecting to see Talla back at GLOW in spite of his excellent set last November.
To my surprise, Talla was hanging outside the DJ booth awhile before his set, chatting with a few people that happened to recognize him. I ended up chatting with Talla for a few minutes, letting him know my appreciation of his Bigod20 tracks (e.g. The Bog) and his remixes of Project Pitchfork - Steelrose and Front 242 - Headhunter. Last but not least, I had to tell him how much I loved his trance productions and mix CDs. I couldn't have been happier when Talla signed my copies of TechnoClub volume 16 and 17!
Talla took the decks after 1 am and proceeded to destroy for the next two hours! Among the tracks that made my night...

Cosmic Gate - Should Have Known
Agnelli and Nelson - Holding On To Nothing (some wicked remix)
Dogzilla - Without You
Toward the end of his set, Talla dropped one of my favorite tracks from the past year...Ferry Corsten - Galaxia! Talla returned for an encore after 3:15. Unfortunately, FUR didn't let him go on past 3:30. It was a shame. Talla could have easily kept the party going for another hour or so.
All in all...it was a wicked set! Talla rocks!
It would be a great surprise if GLOW brings back Talla soon!

| yeah this was a great night! im shocked at how many regulars i dont see for an event like talla,which i truly believe is a combo of people just not happy with the policies at fur and how they treat poeple/lack of good trance djs in thier lineup. THERES NOT EVEN A REVIEW OF TALLA ON GLOWS OWN WEBSITE.that speaks volumes in my opinion.its unfortunate because if you look at that picture you can tell everybody had a really good time.talla played a lot of good tunes including his new one Full Prelude along with that bangn mix of as the rush comes and a version of massive ive never heard.id have loved to go to glow for armin but i have to work and cant get off.but i should be out for ferry corsten and im hoping ill see more regulars out for that! |
