Yep, top night.

I got there at about 6.15 or something, where me and my mate headed straight for the bar, and then chilled out on the lawn listening to the outdoor breaks thing in the sun with a beer for a bit (no idea who was playing).

Went into the Cream stadium to see Midro at 7pm, and he did a good job of getting me in the mood. Wasn't really my cup of tea - Nu NRG stuff I guess - but I enjoyed it. Then pissed off back outside to the lawn again for some more beer, before catching the middle half of Mark James' set (who gets the thumbs up for being the first DJ I've seen play Madagascar since my underage days :D ). There was an awesome moment during this set where the sun was setting and shining directly through the entrance to the arena, creating this long yellow beam across the dancefloor (thought it was a laser at first but realised what it was when I walked outside). Pretty cool stuff.

Then met up with tas outside at about 9pm, before we went back into Cream to catch the first half of Sean Quinn's set. He rocked I thought - his usual relentless prog music - and it was a shame I had to leave at 9.40pm or something to get my friend his ticket through the fence so he could get in. Bumped into Stipsy while waiting there outside the Renaissance Arena (wearing that '00' shirt was a good idea mate), before heading in to catch the last part of Kasey Taylor's set. He was alright, nothing too flash. If anything he lacks the energy of his buddy Sean Quinn though, but it was still sounded alright to the ears of this progressive fan.

As soon as he finished we piss-bolted back to the Cream arena to see the end of Goldie's set. I'd heard he was a bit of a nutter, and he didn't disappoint: this crazy d'n'b that must have been going at like 180 bpm :D. Impossible to dance to of course, but it sounded good.....

Then '00' came on and I bumped into the other TA's there, trancilvania and Philby. It was a good set actually, wasn't too sure what to expect, but that kinda psuedo-progressive techy-melodic-trance (or whatever  ) really had me going. Stayed there for the entire hour and a half, then caught the first half an hour of Fergie's set, but wasn't really feeling it, so me and trancilvania nicked off to see Danny Howells (was meant to be Lawler but they changed the times on everyone) who kicked some major arse imho. I don't think trancilvania was too impressed (ended up sitting down in the middle of the dancefloor :D ) but I thought he played a pretty slamming prog set, with just a hint of an uplifting melody. Very nice stuff. :)

I left just before the end (can't remember who I was with by this stage :-/ ) so I'd have time to get in to the Cream arena in time for the start of Tiesto set. Met up with tas again and we walked in just in time for the start of the set (tas recognised the song, but I couldn't hear what he saying). He was good obviously, but by this stage I was more in the mood for something harder, so I left about 40 mins into his set (please don't hurt me :) ) so I could go and see Jeff Mills.

My god does this guy rock. I only saw him for 45 mins, but I was dancing like a madman for the entire time. His music was relentless - pounding techno and this dirty filtered house stuff - and his technique was flawless. He'd mix in a new record every 2 mins or so (as most good techno djs do) and was doing these unbelievably long mixes. Like he'd turn his back on the turntables for like 60-90 seconds to get some records from his crate, and for the entire time he'd have two records spinning perfectly in sync without having to touch them at all. Absolutely flawless beat-matching without any interference for over a minute..... absolutely incredible. Then, of course, there's the scratching he'd do, the twised effects he'd produce with his mixing board and the way he'd start scraching and mixing with his elbow - fantastic stuff. Even if you don't like techno (which I do btw), he was worth seeing just for his skills on the decks. Probably the highlight of the evening for me (which is saying something) and I only wish that I could have seen more of him...... ah well. Next year eh. :D

From there I went to catch the last 30 mins of Lawlers set, who was a little disappointing actually. He was playing some rather weak prog/tribal stuff that didn't really work in such a massive arena. He was okay, but not great.

Then, at 5am, it was time for Picotto, who had me going nuts for most of his two hour set, sending me home happy and extremely buggered. Again, even if you don't like the music that he plays, you have to admire the technique. He was doing some pretty trippy with the left/right speaker fade thang, and really knew how to work the crowd (who lapped it up :D ). He seemed to be enjoying himself, and kept on coming back and doing encores which probably went for about 30 mins after he was meant to finish.

From there we stumbled out of the Vodaphone arena and into the light of day feeling ed. Trancilvania was nice enough to give me a lift home (cheers mate, owe you one :D ) and I got home at about 9.30 and slept through until about an hour ago (thank god I didn't have work or uni today - I feel sorry for you Philby :) ).

So yeah, all in all it was a brilliant night. Well organised, the stadiums were all packed (but not too packed), it was easy to get around everywhere, the sound systems were amazing considering the immense size of the venues (and my ears are still ringing from Picotto's set at the end) and just everything went off without a hitch. It was good to meet all the TA's last night: we must do it again next Two Tribes (getting excited already I think :D).

Brilliant.
Philby
whoa that was awesome!
i've never been to anything like that before, it was amazing! the sounds, the lights, the people, well worth the money and i'm definetly going back again! i got there about 10:30 or 11 or something, there was a pissup at my place because my sis' friends bday party was there (they are moving house so we hosted it), when i got there i wandered around for a bit and headed off to see the end of goldie, haha he was funny. i think one of the turntables broke or wasnt working right and he had these worried looks on his face it was classic, he was pulling guys over and like fix it fix it! then when he finished he came out and was wandering around the stage trying to get us to make more noise. then 00 flemming came out and to be honest i was surprised, i had downloaded an essential mix by him and i think i found it a bit boring, but this was mad! he was really enjoying himself, smiling all the time, dancing around, singing the words, he was having a ball and so was i!! fergie came on next but i didnt really stay for all of it, a couple of friends turned up and i went for a walk, came back and they were gone hehe. then when fergie finished tiesto was on! that was great, he was really into it and having fun. he played 'the prophet' and i went nuts, he came up and started throwing signed records into the crowd. afterwards someone jumped the barrier to go get their motorcycle helmet signed and he did it! then picotto came on and he rocked too! i didnt like the first couple of tracks that much but after that it was great. he kinda seemed like a zombie for a while, just going through the motions with a blank look on his face i thought but he opened up later and kept doing encores like renegade said. speaking of which it was good to actually meet a couple of people, found stipsy straight away because of his shirt hehe and rengade from his description. and trancylvania (sp?) good to meet you too but I AM SO SORRY!!!!!!!!!!!! when you were talking to me and i had no idea what you were saying!! that was very embarrassing! but on the whole it was a great night/morning ;) i came home at about 8:45 and went to bed, in the end i didnt go to uni slept all day hehe. so yeah it was great! wooo!
:)
astroboy
My 2tribes experience:
Lying in bed at 12:00am twiddling my thumbs thinking " I should have gone!" suddenly my mobile rings:
*pumping music and people-noise in background*
and the voice of a friend of mine who has a strong Slavic accent:

"...Hey I love you man... Hey doood this is the best man this is better than the time i dragged that car....etc etc....tell me if I'm babbling.... oh man you guys are the best friends I've ever had...hey you should be here man I feel so happy but I think i will feel like crap tomorrow *girl's voice in background* yeah I love you tooo!!... anyway you doods are the best mates anyone could ever have etc etc ... tell me if I'm talking crap too much..." I was just going along with it and laughing my ass off, but this went on for another half an hour before he finally hung up.
Tranceilvania
Hi guys, it was really really nice meeting with yous finally. I really liked to see Stamper too since he was coming all the way from Adelaide but he was non avail. Anyways it was a rocking nite and my estimate there were about 30000+ ppl there, two huge venues as well as the side ones were packed.
I guess that was the most succesfull event in the history of Australia. U could tell it from the faces of the organizers! Towards the end of Picottos set they were celebrating by drinking champagne and raving next to Picotto:D
High lights of the night:
1-Tiesto (although he had just 2hr set)(and was he wearing a pilots dress?)
2-J00F (as Stipsy predicted he dropped few Astral Projection tracks and they were absolute dancefloor meltdowners)
3-Picotto (only downside he played Tiestos Urban Train 10 million times. Maybe they were different mixes but after a while sounded boring)
4-Sean Quinn (I guess best Aussie DJ ever. Really enjoyed his set)

I didn't go around much, just stuck around the Cream vs Future arena since all the best loved DJs of mine were going to play there anyway. I and Renegade went to see the Renaissance arena but didn't enjoy much maybe cuz i was having technical difficulties:toothless
see you all next time guys ing it was rockin.....Why there aren't any chick TAs in Melbourne whyyyy????:toothless :stongue: :toothless

Tiesto dropped in my memory! :eyes: OMG What planet was I on when that happened? I f#cking love that track - that was my boarding anthem at mt hotham last year.

Have to agree tiesto was amazing - in my opinion he payed for my whole TT ticket!

Joof and fergie were impressive too - I was in trance heaven when Joof dropped the children remix!

As for jeff mills - have to agree with u renegade, what I heard of his set had me dancing like a madman (though I left a bit early so I wouldn't miss one second of tiesto!!

Overall, a night I won't soon forget
Renegade
