Pioneer HDJ 1000 question

I was wondering if the Pioneer HDJ 1000 headphones are suitible for just regular music use, the reason i ask this is because the pios are "dj" headphones and didn`t think that they are okay for hi-fi use but id thought id ask anyway.
These ty Phillips SBC HP250 are really e now lol and the pios look really sexy |

They should be fine but I wouldn't spend the money on HDJ 1000s just to listen to them. You can get some pretty good headphones for casual listening for less than $99, why spend $169 or however much they are asking for them?...they are after all designed for DJs as you noted. I just bought some Denon's, and I can tell you..i'de rather listen to music on these $29.99 Aiwa headphones i've had for about two years, vs. my $159 Denon's...just my two cents. But I see your from Englad, so I dunno how much they are there, but I assume slightly less but I haven't heard good things about the Pioneers anyways.... |

| Yeah they're cool & they sound mint but £120 is a lot to pay! Like Spirit5 said if you want headphones purely for listening to music rather than DJing I'd maybe have a look at some Sennhieser or something :) |

| Yeah and there are a lot of cheaper sony headphones out there...under $99 (or whatever it is in pounds) that are great for casual listening and DJing. I've heard the V6s and the 7506's are great, but they also have a whole line of noise-canelling headphones for around $60 (or however it is in pounds). Senheiser doesn't seem to make a lot for casual listening...but they do have ones that rival Sony's 7506, like the HD25s or the 280s.. |

| For regular music listening i can't reccomend anything more than the Audio Technica ad700 headphones. Amazing sound, super comfy and not overly expensive. About the same as a pair of decent dj headphones. |

| I'm using some Aiwa HP-X223 headphones and they sound fine for a $29 pair of headphones from Best Buy...esp with CDs. |

for all the people suggesting cheap headphones for regular listening... why do so? invest a little extra and get something that sounds good. i mean all of us here care about music and we committ more than average people listening to music.
do not get DJ headphones for regular listening. dj headphones have some sounds boosted that u shouldnt really care about when not djing. u want to use headphones that make u hear every little detail a track got for full enjoyment.
Pioneer HDJ 1000 is a very bad choice for ur purpose. Pioneer is not durable and very fragile so u got to be careful with it and cant toss it around. plus wearing the pioneers for over an hour will kill ur ears. the thing is very uncomfortable for wearing it long. |

dj headphones are also closed headphones. whereas headphones such as the ad 700 open. Giving you a larger perceived soundstage.
Also you get less "fully sick doof doof bass" and more natural sounding bass from non dj headphones. |

WIth the right EQs, and the right tweaks, those headphones sound orgasmic.
With all the right settings, the only down-side is taht on loud settings, the bass will distort. But then I again, i listen to music REALLY loud...
I'd suggest buying a pair of Phillia HP890s (I think that's the right model, looks very similiar to ur current headphones). They're probably hte best headphones for around $150US. Everyone compares their quality to that of headphones double the prices. Probably the only good phillips headphones there is.
The interesting thing is if u open these headphones up. THere's not really speakers in there. It's just a really thin diaphram thing. The design of the headphones are such that acoustics and resonance are utilised to get the desired audio. |

Wow thanks for all the advice :d looked like i was going to go make the wrong choice, my budget is 100 pounds sterling which is 190 USD according to the website http://coinmill.com/GBP_USD.html
Known that the Sennhiesers (sp?) have a reputation for amazing sound quality and like said before by a TA on here i like to listen to my music nice and LOUD so any pointers ? |
