You catch the beginning of his set? |

no - didn't go to this show - but i'm sure he played the same electro-housey influenced tracks that spun while i was in ibiza - what he should do is instead of playing those familiar electro-housey tracks is find some newer, more interesting electro-housey tracks that haven't been hammered by other dj's |

| i would have been more impressed with him if he would have played do what u do when it was new and fresh - that would have shown he really knows what's going on in the music world. instead it takes him about 2 years to fit it into his sets. |

I guess I don't understand this obsession with everything having to be 'new'... sure, a few new tracks are always fun to hear. But, when you d'l every live set out there, and buy every new track that comes out, it kinda limits what seems 'new'.
I was talking w/ a friend about seeing Ferry C. next month, and I was saying how cool it would be to hear Punk... maybe I'm just different  |

doesn't he spin punk at almost every gig? i was under the impression that ferry tends to go into this segment at every gig where he spins like 3 or 4 tracks of his in a row. but i dunno - haven't seen ferry in about 5 years - just what i've read on TA and other forums. |

I'm in the same boat as you and the funny thing is, I dj (at home) and am constantly on the lookout for new tracks in my bag. But yeah, if I go see Ferry I expect to hear tracks like Punk and Rock Your Body Rock. Probably wouldn't be the same if he doesn't play them. But hey, can't please everybody. :) |

Agreed...
It's a waste of time talking about him anyway. More Farina, Hawtin, Burridge, Howells, John Tejada please |

well...dc has a great scene, fur just isn't really one of the best. especially not like a huge trancetastic night like that one. WAY too f-ing packed, i have NEVER, EVER seen it that bad. thank god i had a lottt of room to dance 3 feet from armin in the booth! HAHA yeah i'm a brat.
and silly you for wearing $200 shoes to a club...you should know better by now! :p |
I actually didnt meet any TA's. If I would have know I would have got a ViP booth up top as well. It would have been well worth, as long as I avoid what occured. |

Hehe. I see alot of people have their negative comments about the show, but you'll surely be there for armin the next time he shows up. Don't lie. You know you will ;-)
I mean the guy is a "Trance & Progressive" DJ. I guess it would be ok to be behind on the Electro/House tracks because of the fact he doesn't normally play those genres. I dunno. Me personally, I try to stay up to date on the genres im a fan of.
GUBostonDubs, you're not a fan of Sasha anymore? |

Not as much. I still listen to alot of his old cds, sets, and have alot of great memories of club nights with him behind the decks but he's been downright lame for months and months now. He's been doing it for so many years so I think he's just a bit over the hill. Don't get me wrong he's still good just not mindblowing and cutting edge like he used to be. There's too many other djs that are putting out fresher sets and more exciting music now. I'll still give Sasha a chance if he comes around to boston or nyc and for the record I believe he's probably the greatest edm dj in history. All good things come to an end though. Digweed on the other hand is still top notch. I don't really care for anything Armin, Tiesto, or PVD are playing these days and sometimes I wonder how I ever liked some of the stuff i used to hahaha. I mean just a few years ago would eat it up but now after more clubbing experiences and discovering new djs/producers/better music I just have outgrown the trancetasticness as alot of people on this very board have. Long Live House Music + Techno. |

It really wasnt an energetic show as I thought it would be. He did play alot of elctro/house tracks, but the question is who doesnt? Like I said in my review this was such a different Armin show that I have ever seen. For the first couple of tunes there was an elevator set going on. In Miami after he came in with Proper Education he started doing it really hard TRANCE, TRANCE. But in DC it was lagging for such a looonng time in the begining it made me mad. This was also a first that he really kept telling the crowd to get hype under many occasion. This never happened in Miami or in the Guv, he was always smiling and really impacted on how the crowd was giving him soooo much support. You can see it in his reactions. Im not saying in DC he didnt get support. But from what im seen in the past it was dead for several of times in the first 2-3 hours of tunes played. I have pics in where no one is not doing anything versus people going insane non stop after each tune. I think it was the crowd, but more the venue. Its not really a Trance venue. It needs to provide better sound and much more darker area. Most good club have better lighting people. Glow has sick lights but it was too well lit up for a Trance event. It wasnt a rock or house event we went out to see. And the sound played a big role in what I thought of Glow. Coming from Miami a huge party scene I know whats a good sounding system is like. It was great visiting DC but disappoint how a big show didnt impact me. |
