Lisa and I are going to Holland next summer. Visiting a bunch of my family, Sensation, Dance Valley, yadda yadda.
We had planned on 3 months there (renting an apartment in a suburb of Amsterdam), but about 23.6 minutes ago we collectively decided to cut Holland to 2 months, and spend 5 to 7 days in Ibiza. I can't believe I'm doing this.
Anyway, all of you that have been there. WE NEED HELP. We'll be there in August, probably early-mid August.
Here are the questions I can think of now.
- Where are all the worthwhile clubs located?
- Which area would be the best to stay in, taking into consideration location of the clubs and transportation to/from them?
- Would you recommend staying in a rental apartment (approx. 120€/night), or a hotel?
- Transportation. What's the best way to get around the place?
- When are the parties happening? Which ones (besides each and every one) are worth hitting?
- What can we expect to budget for a week in this land of excess?
- When should we start looking to book the apartment/hotel/cardboard box?
Thanks everyone, and for your trouble here is a picture of a goose:

Bring your pen and paper on Saturday.. you will be among many who have no problem talking about their adventures..
You may even get stories repeated...
I am sure I am not the only one to say.. I am just as excited to be able to to tell the stories.. as you are to be going to Ibiza. |

- Between Ibiza town and San Antonio
- Ibiza town
- You could get a good deal right now if you book. Stay in either Playa d'en Bossa or Ibiza town. San Antonio is a bit too noisy. Hotels are good just because you come back to a nice clean room.
- Cabs are good, but you can take the bus too.
- If you go in August, you end up paying the higest price during the season. July is a good month. Aweome parties and decent prices
- Other than clubs and hotels (some of them), everything in Ibiza is cheap. It really depends how much you want to spend. Budget about 40 Euros just for entrance to each party
- Its never too early to start searching for accomodation. But check the party calendar to decide when you want to go.
Go to ibiza-spotlight.com. Its an encyclopedia to Ibiza.
I'll update you more on Saturday. You guys are going to have a BLAST.
PS: Book you tickets early. From AMS, you most likely will have to do AMS-LHR-BCN/MAD-IBZ.
Good luck, and see you in Ibiza next year :) |

I noticed only one thing wrong with your planning so far. If you have a month to go, why are you only going for 5-7 days. so many people say, wtf, i can't handle more then a week there, but trust me..you can. moneywise, its really not a problem as long as you do it right. and it will be easier to enjoy it, party wise if you stretch it out a bit. Instead of cramming everything into a couple days, don't party as often and do normal stuff. you can find hostels for 20 euros a night, and you get your own room/bathroom.
dont spend your money on the hotel. you'll never be there. unless you are staying for a while, and don't mind room mates, don't get an apartment
buy as much food as you can from the supermarkets.
they have taxis that are regular price. the black cabs can be cheaper, but most often b/c of HUGE lines for cabs, they'll charge you more. they can come with some benefits. however, ibiza has a 24 hour bus system that hits almost all of the major clubs. its usually packed to the , but its decently fast, its cheap and it gets you to the front door of the clubs and home (i'll walk you guys thru the buses systems. its great)
most clubs have an in/out thing after a certain time (pacha all night; amnesia after 4 etc). buy bottles of water beforehand. leave them outside. don't buy your water in the club. they are tiny and will cost you at least 8 euro. you CANNOT drink the tap water. even if they haven't added salt to the water, it will make you sick. guarenteed
buy your BEFORE the club. not sure who to ask? ask workers. they'll know. infact, make friends with workers..they always have hookups. can't find any still? ask the luckylucky men (any black guy selling sunglasses/necklases). don't pay more then 5 euro. don't buy in a club.
arrive on a saturday. leave on a saturday. nothing happens on satuday night..its flying day only
don't do san antonio. its designed for 18 year old fobs, puking in doorways. infact, do not go to san antonio, except for the sunset at cafe del mar/ mambos. the preparties and the sunset strip are usually combined.
pay attention to the flyers..all of them. most djs do warmup/sunset sets at these sunset strip bars for free. you DON'T want to miss them (cafe del mar, mambos, coastline, kanya, bar m, BN3 are the main ones)
see carl cox at space. he is the king of ibiza for a reason. his nights are legendary
try to do sunday-borabora, sunday night-space, monday morning-dc10, monday night coccoon..straight. then come home and brag
book hotels as soon as you can. and flights. its super cheap early on (i flew from barcelona to ibiza for 14 euros)..but it goes up. august is the busiest month, and you'll find it hard to get cheap flights or hostels late in the game
don't book your tickets. sometimes you can get guestlist if you happen to be at the right place. right time. and if you don't, theres a million ticket sellers, selling for the same price you would bought them for
there is a calender that goes up in the spring on spotlight ibiza. every night has a party...or a few. they usually stay the same every year, but some change (manumission from monday to friday..don't miss it), some die out and some come
in general
monday - circoloco @ dc10 (morning party)coccoon @amnesia (sven vath)
tuesday - armada @amnesia (armin), carl cox @ space (do carl cox)
wednesday - garlands @ eden (workers mainly..but fun costume party), subliminal @ pacha (erick morillo..i didn't like it, but the mambos sunset preparty was good)
thursday - cream (for you two, their better be no other choice)
friday - pure pacha @pacha, manumission @ priveledge, missmoneypennys @ el divino
saturday - hed kandi @el divino, def mix @ pacha
sunday - we love space @ space, judgement sundays @ eden
bora bora - everyday esp in august, but sundays are best (warmup for welovespace
i dont' know if i'm even answering your questions anymore, or just rambling. either way, most important thing..go longer. you CANNOT fit it into 5-7 days. take your time. its easily affordable as long as you know how to do it. its worth it. this island can be so much more then a 24/7 party, and u can have tons of fun for free. i could do a day (minus rent) on 10 euro including food, alcohol and a party |
