bump

Bad day for us in the Portugal-England rivalry. As for upsets, only slightly surprising to see Lille forcing Milan to concede points in France.

3 *great* matches to choose from tomorrow: Inter-Bayern, Valencia-Roma and Bremen-Barēa. Lots of entertainment, don't forget you can also catch Spartak-Sporting as it starts earlier (Russia and timezones...)

I dont think any team deserves to win this trophy more than lyon do .. they been by far the most consistent team in europe the past few years scoring big wins and playing great football only to it up in the quarters

if lyon was in spain/italy/england, they would never be champions. french league is too weak, that's why they're dominating

This result put my mate out £350, he was none to pleased that milan were disallowed a perfectly good goal as well.

Betting, it's a mugs game.:p
K.I.K.E.
Now, the all time Champions League scorers' top-2 is in Madrid: Raśl (53) and Ruud (45).

Yeah I agree, I'd be quite happy if Lyon finally made it this year. It's a bit strange since they don't really have top superstars, just a large number of effective players who work really well together.

French league is indeed weaker, but they're improving. And I honestly think the current Lyon would at least challenge for the title in any league, they're too superior to all other teams in France.

The most impressive is that they've been surviving by selling a single key player per season, yet managing to improve the team year by year. I really wonder if we (Porto) couldn't have done something similar, we could still be a top squad in Europe just like Lyon.

If you don't include qualifying goals ;) Take a look at this website: http://euro.futbal.org/EC1.scorers.php, Shevchenko has at least a word to say.

For sure I don't include them: qualifying round is qualifying round. As the World Cup is not the same as the WC Qualifying Rounds: you gotta achieve on them to play in the real tournament.

Fine, I agree qualifying shouldn't count, just saying Shevchenko deserves a mention as he's also only been overtaken by Ruud yesterday. An extra motivation factor for the game in Bulgaria perhaps. :p

Well, I guess that didn't motivate him.

Sheva looked very lost today. If he doesn't get in gear anytime soon, he may find himself losing his spot to some other guy.

i love sheva but i hope he keeps on struggling, it will teach him not to ditch Milan  :whip:

Sheva cannot adapt to the English style of football, shame on him for leaving Milan. :whip:
