Shallowness.. vanity...hypocrisy (and other things)

Is it me, or is [American] society becoming less original and open-minded? When I walk out the door, everyone's a conformist, and a hypocrite.

I can't explain it well, but why does it feel like the world of 2006 is a lesser hue or a shade of 1996? Feels like we lost some level of freedom and expression and we're going backwards. Maybe it has to do with maturity, but I feel like everything has just turned to . Music, movies and people...

lol, it's like things have been going downhill for a bit, but it was too subtle to notice...

It's the edumacation system. Creativity and originality are frowned upon.

True. Especially for the movies. Every other movie now is some cheesy half-assed remake, sequel or prequel of a previousely successful movie, or it's based on a comic or video game (in which case they take the most popular video games for marketing purposes, rather than the ones that have intelligent storylines).

Maybe I am just getting old, but it feels like I'm still in highschool after I left. Just with older people...

edit: as for media, entertainment has gone DOWNHILL. That is ing fact.

I don't think it's nostalgia either, because i watch and listen to older stuff, and it's always better.

What neighborhood do you live in? I love the Williamsburg hipsters who are so unique, individual, artsy, and exactly like every other Williamsburg hipster I meet.

P.S. - I know this is going to come off as conformist, but I blame Bush, the war on terror and the "You're either with us, or against us" mentality that extends further than just the war on terror.

nop, its just like boomer said, theres just more of it so truly remarkable things are less common now than before. another way of putting it, is that there are so much remarkable things right now that they became no longer remarkable so the ones that made an impression on us before seem more remarkable :wtf:
