Maybe a doldrums of the old standby, house, before something else develops. This sort of situation is always fertile soil for something, you know, actually different.
I have to say I'm very pleased with the short shelf-life of these recent movements compared to progressive/trance's wholesale takeover in the 90s. It shows people still have some basic values that won't be slaughtered on the altar trendwhoring, and that we're not doomed to a decade of mindless bloopy-bloop nonsense.
