To fight an even fight in New York [attn: Made Events + more]

If indeed you are bringing the talent to NYC and open to the opinions of the real music fans, might I suggest a line of parties that is not of the "business mind".

Hell yea, take a hit for once, do a small less advertised party. How is that for an idea? Don't get me wrong, most of us are grateful for the talent you bring to NYC as we give back to you by attending all of these events, how about you do a party to recognize the loyalty of your fans? Not fans of the DJs but fans that recognize that Made Events (or any other promo booking agency in NYC) brings these talents to NYC.

How you ask? What happen to those "unadvertised" parties? Those secret parties that aren't about $30 covers in super clubs? Might I suggest you give the small clubs some of that foot traffic love.

Here's what I'm thinking..

Headliners like Steve Porter, Lee Burridge, Richie Hawtin, Ronski Speed, Holden, and many more non-superstar-dj's.

Hold it at venues that deserve it like Love, Element, Cielo, venues without that "normal friday crowd".

Advertise it 1 week out only online like a special online promotion. Make people sign up and vote Yes for free comp admission or $10 cover only.

---------------

I post this admist all the nyc nightlife crisis that is surrounding the Chelsea area clubs and I know with Made moving over to Pacha, venues are limited so maybe downscale your efforts and focus it more on those who would solely attend because they appreciate the DJ.

This is what made Vynil what it was, this is for the people who are for the music!

you'd be surprised at the amount of money that is to be made in the long tail of the business

i would totally support more of an underground scene in nyc

it exists - you just have to find it ;)

I just wished I had time and the money to organize my own damn event company and book artists for NYC. I agree with you 100% though, getting sick of these "no vibe" clubs.

Another artist to consider would be Eric Entrena.

Enough with the Super-star DJs with flyers given out in the lunch room of every high school in Bergen County.

I absolutely support something like this, but I don't see it being supported and funded by MADE. But hey, doesn't hurt to try and ask. :)

I definitely like the smaller lounge type venues myself. God I miss 114. :(

i really don't think there is money in the super club super star DJ combo anymore. There is so much attention to these venues and like everything in life, it's cyclical. It's evident, things were at an all time high for new york with all those major clubs running things, we'll eventually have to bring it back underground to a smaller more focused scale.

i've really grown sick of clubbing in NYC, it's always a DJ praise event and never "oh it's a _______ event" as if the establishment and company who is throwing it has a really great reputation.

good example is Dumbo Luna aka Lunatarium, Tek can attest to the time we moved into that space doing parties there...it was "party @ lunatarium" w/guest DJs etc etc etc

Now its all TIESTO CROBAR - that's individual dj fame and venue appreciation....is that all Made Events is supporting? dj fame and venue hot spots? I would think with the current events in NYC nightlife, Made would make some effort to innovatively inspire the essence of NYC nightlife instead of "riding the waves the city laws pass" and work at getting to the core reason they are in this business in the first place.

I beg - during Christmas, please do a consecutive week by week event with non-superstar-Djs at small intimate venues and have some of the proven locals open for these parties. Theme as the made underground party and see how much of a fan base you'll draw from just internet marketing.

I knew the nightlife was over when I seen full page ads in Time Out New York for Pacha NY. Sad....almost KTU/Z100 like wouldn't you say???? "Live in Lodi - Hunkabunka"

you feel me i know you do...
