dont really need all of that stuff. from my experience is best to master some really useful instruments and taking them to the max.
my recommendations (and setup) for making psychedelic trance is:
NI Battery 2.1: for all drum percussions
Audiorealism Bassline or Tritium: for rolling basslines
DSP Discovery: for main leads and themes, fx and much more!!!
Refx Vanguard: for all its great trance features, like gate arpeggiator and very nice filters and sounds (some not like the filters, but work on them and ill be fine). This is the synth most likely to be found on most psy tunes.
Linplug Albino: a flexible synth with many uses, from pads to arpeggiators to fx (not too much for the main leads, mostly for sounds that fill up the freq spectrum). is easy to get it into a crowded mix!
All other samples i use them directly in audio tracks in ccubase SX. For killer plugins see "Ohmforce pack" (juicy delays , phasers, filters and other great stuff like the Moog emulator on acid Minimonsta!!! also worth checking that out!
Other than that i just use the Waves Platinum for eq and dynamics proccessing, and TC Electronics Native Bundle 3.1 for its amazing (and esay to use ) sidechain compressor, does wonders!!
wow!! maybe its not that basic, but i assure u that these software tools, can get u to produce quality and cutting edge psy sounds if used properly and extensevely.
PS... important , its crucial u get a decent 24 bit low latency souncard, a midi controller with knobs (they are all the fun!!) and a studio quality monitor setup , even if its a budget one.
U really should start with that before proceeding with anything else. u can work for years making music and then realize it sounds like garbage because of lousy digital/audio converters and poor monitoring.
thats the best advice i can give u and good luck and make some mind bending sounds!!!! |
