I'm glad I decided to come out for this...
It's been a while, so I decided to dress up a bit, considering that I thought it wouldn't be a dirty night. We managed to get to TIL at around 11:20 or so, and the lineup looked pretty horrible. Thank god it wasn't a repeat of my night at Glaude. After bumping into the middle, we got in about 10 minutes after; not bad. So many bdays were being celebrated which explained why the place was already decently packed. I couldn't enjoy myself as much as I wanted to for most of the night. The dancefloor was filled with drunken idiots and barbies rudely passing, interrupting my dancing about 100000000x! What ever happened to politeness and courtesy?! I lost count how many times I roared like a dragon and forced my space...I was so tempted to bite this girl's head off who wouldn't stop going by right through me. LEAVE ME ALONE! lol. If it wasn't for half the clowns and some TAs being there, I would of freaked! Fortunately, the lighting was vastly improved, but those goddamn flashing lights blind me! Well...not really, but I noticed many sketchbags closing their eyes in pain. Bahahah. From 3:30 onwards it was like paradise. The real partiers were still there and I had all the room I ever needed...and I could finally bust out the moves properly. I wanted it to go on past 5 am, but my wish was not granted...
Musically, this was quite a great night. I was so relieved that a Toronto local was NOT opening up. Dean Coleman played one of the best opening sets I've heard this year. The mixing could definately have been better, but he did a pretty good job of transitioning from tech house to deep house, considering that it would flow perfectly once Howells would go on. I was totally loving the tech stuff...lots of my favourite tunes like 1983 which I missed while I was in line :whip:, Rej, Erotic Discourse!!!! <3, and We Share Our Mother's Health (Trentemoller Remix) <3!!. His last half an hour was bland, and the crowd did NOT help one bit. Still, I was impressed overall.
Danny Howells went on just a bit past 2... Now..I absolutely loathed the first 2 times I had seen him; I thought he was horrible and I wouldn't want to see him spin again. For some reason I had a really good feeling about friday night, and besides, 3rd time's the charm right? I was right.....Danny Howells rocked! It was far from being the set of the year, but I was shocked and delighted. His mixing was good...minus a few beatmatching and accidental looping incidents. His transitions were lovely; sometimes it sounded like he was playing one whole song instead of 4. His facial espressions were hilarious just like I remembered. Classy guy, really friendly, and down to earth :) He started off with some deeper house which I wasn't feeling at all... His set built up into some really good stuff; it was very climactic. He played some minimal-tech dark deeper prog which made me go mental. It was like the perfect blend of genres and inspirations...I couldn't ID many tracks. He reminded me of Cattaneo <3. The last 45 minutes of his set was a mixture of what he started off with and what he played at the climax. It was a bit weird, but surprisingly it fit perfectly. After an encore track, he stopped just past 5 am.
Everyone (my clowns) kept disappearing, but it was nice to party with different groups of people throughout the night. Most of the TAs were hibernating in the bottle service VIP area getting sloshed. It was a pleasure partying with everyone, especially the dirty bunch on the dancefloor. My nipples got pinched so many times :( There were some things I wish I didn't see but w/e...Great night overall. Happy Bday to everyone once again! I will be looking forward to Howells next time. :clown:
BTW, nice meeting you and your friend Shawn, Sasha's cousin, and dc star. |

I totally are with you with Howells' set that night...for me, I love how versatile his sets are...and his energy...wow.
Haha...I didn't care how crazy I looked that night on the front stage...I had to show my appreciation for this guy and his music :D
btw - the lighting was worse then last night IMO...but it wasn't that bad I guess...
And Cribbs...it's always nice sharing the dance floor with you...esp. when it gets emptier near closing...that's the real time to bust out the crazy dancing :)
And people weren't that bad that night @ TiL! I met a nice fellow from Wales...and wicked dancer...kind of cute too btw ;) |

Actually no i got it, the fact that you're posting this is truly mind blowing though.
Let me spell this out a little clearer...if you know you hate the crowd, you know its gonna be like that everynight, you're gonna be pissed off at it...why would you go back? and then when you do, you complain about the same thing everytime? before you get your panties in a bunch Liam, I'm not referring to you, it's just a general statement. |

well just as many said when people bitched bout the club overall back in jan/feb, it was concluded that u will HAVE to go back if theres a dj u like thats playing there. this DOES lead to bitching about the crowd because unlike other places where they actually DO let u walk through, these people generally consider themselves high and mighty.
I personally love bitching about it and even bitching at the crowd when they piss me off to drive some sense into the mule-like persona.
u will just have to bear with people like me |
